Objective

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

The purpose of this stage is to introduce students to the lesson's topic, making connections between the content and real-life situations. This will help students appreciate the practical relevance of the subject, motivating them for learning while providing a context to develop socioemotional skills during the lesson.

Objective Utama

1. Highlight the significance of time measurement units and their application in everyday life.

2. Foster the ability to read and convert time intervals between seconds, minutes, and hours.

Introduction

Duration: (15 - 20 minutes)

Emotional Warmup Activity

🌟 Guided Meditation: Relaxation Journey 🌟

The emotional warm-up activity we'll use is Guided Meditation. This practice leads students through mental and physical relaxation, enhancing focus and concentration. During the meditation, students will be invited to concentrate on their breathing and visualize a peaceful scene, preparing their minds and bodies for the lesson to follow.

1. Invite students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet flat on the floor and hands resting in their laps.

2. Explain that today's activity is a Guided Meditation to help them focus and unwind before we dive into the lesson.

3. Encourage them to close their eyes and begin focusing on their breathing, inhaling deeply through the nose and exhaling slowly through the mouth.

4. Guide the students to visualize a calming, peaceful place, like a serene beach or a meadow filled with flowers. Describe this place in vivid detail, prompting them to imagine the colours, sounds, and feelings.

5. Encourage students to fully immerse themselves in this scene, setting aside any worries or distractions.

6. After a few minutes of visualization, prompt them to gently redirect their focus back to the classroom, moving their fingers and toes, and finally opening their eyes.

7. Wrap up the activity by thanking the students for their participation and stressing the importance of relaxation for more effective learning.

Content Contextualization

Time measurement units like seconds, minutes, and hours are crucial in our day-to-day lives. Whether it's scheduling daily tasks, like knowing when to rise or timing activities for a school project, grasping these units is essential. For instance, when planning a birthday party, it's important to allocate time for each activity. Knowing how long games last or when to serve the cake is key to making sure everything goes smoothly. Moreover, understanding time aids in managing our emotions, like anxiety and excitement, as we wait for something enjoyable.

Development

Duration: (60 - 75 minutes)

Theory Guide

Duration: (20 - 25 minutes)

1. Definition of Time Measurement Units: Explain that time measurement units are standards for measuring the duration of events. The primary units are the second, minute, and hour. A second is the smallest standard unit of time in the international system and equals 1/60 of a minute. A minute consists of 60 seconds, and an hour consists of 60 minutes, or 3600 seconds.

2. Conversion between Time Units: Illustrate how to convert between different time units. For example, to change minutes to seconds, multiply the number of minutes by 60. To convert seconds to minutes, divide the number of seconds by 60. Provide practical examples and invite students to solve simple conversions.

3. Reading Time Intervals: Teach students how to read time intervals on both analog and digital clocks. Clarify the differences between AM and PM on 12-hour clocks and how to read 24-hour clocks. Use familiar examples from daily life, like calculating time until recess or how long a specific activity lasted.

4. Importance of Time Management: Discuss how understanding time measurement units can enhance time management skills. For instance, it helps in planning daily activities, meeting deadlines, and organizing events. Connect this to the significance of self-control and making responsible choices.

5. Practical Activity: Suggest an engaging activity where students must plan a fictional event, like a birthday party, while calculating the time required for each task (decorating, games, snacks, etc.). This will reinforce their comprehension of time measurement units and the real-world application of their knowledge.

Activity with Socioemotional Feedback

Duration: (30 - 35 minutes)

⏰ Planning a Perfect Day ⏰

Students will design a 'Perfect Day' by organizing their favourite activities throughout the day, appropriately employing time measurement units. They will calculate the duration of each activity, convert time units when necessary, and ensure that the total duration sums up to 24 hours.

1. Divide students into small groups and provide sheets of paper and pencils.

2. Clarify that each group will plan a 'Perfect Day' by including fun activities they'd like to engage in, such as playing, studying, watching TV, and more.

3. Each group should list all activities and compute the duration of each, ensuring they utilize time units accurately (seconds, minutes, and hours).

4. Students must convert time units when needed to make sure the activities total 24 hours.

5. Once they've finished planning, each group will present their 'Perfect Day' to the class, explaining their time calculations for each activity.

Discussion and Group Feedback

After the group presentations, facilitate a class discussion using the RULER method:

Recognize: Ask students to identify how they felt during the planning activity. Was it easy or challenging, and why?

Understand: Help students explore the reasons behind those emotions. Discuss how organizing time can evoke feelings of anxiety or satisfaction.

Label: Encourage students to accurately express their emotions. For example, 'I felt pleased that I was able to plan the day' or 'I felt frustrated while trying to convert time units.'

Express: Create a safe space for students to openly share their feelings. Encourage them to vocalize their experiences and emotions with the group.

Regulate: Talk about strategies to manage emotions in future activities. Highlight the value of planning and organization in reducing anxiety while boosting efficiency and satisfaction in everyday tasks.

Conclusion

Duration: (10 - 15 minutes)

Reflection and Emotional Regulation

Once the practical activity is concluded, lead a written reflection or group discussion about the challenges they faced during the lesson and how they managed their emotions. Ask students to write down or verbally share responses to the following questions:

What were the most significant challenges you encountered during the 'Perfect Day' planning activity? How did you feel while facing these challenges? What strategies did you employ to cope with these feelings? What could you improve next time to manage your emotions during a challenging activity?

Objective: The goal of this reflection is to promote self-assessment and emotional regulation among students, enabling them to identify effective strategies for handling challenges. By reflecting on their emotions and the approaches taken to manage them, students can develop greater self-awareness and self-control, which are crucial skills for their personal and academic development.

Glimpse into the Future

To wrap up the lesson, encourage students to set personal and academic goals related to the material explored in class. Clarify that goal-setting will assist them in applying their knowledge of time measurement units in their daily routines and enhancing their time management skills. Ask each student to jot down one personal goal and one academic goal they wish to achieve in the upcoming weeks.

Penetapan Objective:

1. Personal: Organize and follow a daily schedule to enhance time management.

2. Personal: Utilize a clock or timer to track the duration of daily activities.

3. Academic: Practice converting time measurement units daily until feeling confident.

4. Academic: Support a peer in understanding time unit conversions. Objective: The aim of this section is to bolster student independence and the practical application of learning, with a focus on fostering their growth both academically and personally. By setting specific goals, students can commit to their self-improvement and apply the skills they've gained meaningfully in their everyday lives.
