Emotional Warm-up Activity

Guided Deep Breathing

The emotional warm-up activity is known as 'Guided Deep Breathing'. This simple and effective practice helps promote focus, presence, and concentration among students, preparing them for the lesson. Deep breathing calms the nervous system and increases mental clarity, allowing students to be more receptive to learning and engaged with the lesson content.

1. Ask students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet flat on the floor and their hands resting in their laps.

2. Guide students to close their eyes or fix their gaze on a point in front of them, if they prefer.

3. Instruct students to inhale deeply through their noses, counting to four.

4. Ask students to hold their breath for a brief moment (count to two).

5. Guide students to exhale slowly through their mouths, counting to six.

6. Repeat this deep breathing cycle five to seven times, encouraging students to focus on the sensation of air entering and leaving their bodies.

7. After the last breath, ask students to slowly open their eyes and notice how they feel calmer and more focused.

The digestive system is essential for our survival and well-being, as it is responsible for transforming the food we consume into nutrients that our body can use. Thinking about how our body works so organized can help students appreciate their health more and have a greater awareness of their food choices.

In addition, by understanding how the digestive system works, students can develop greater empathy and consideration for the importance of a healthy and balanced diet, both for themselves and for others. This understanding can stimulate discussions on how different cultures approach food and how food choices can impact health and the environment.

Theoretical Framework

Duration: (20 - 25 minutes)

1. Mouth: The entry point of the digestive system, where digestion begins. The teeth chew the food while saliva, which contains digestive enzymes, starts breaking down carbohydrates.

2. Esophagus: A muscular tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. It transports food through peristaltic movements, which are rhythmic muscle contractions.

3. Stomach: A sac-shaped organ that mixes and stores food. The stomach secretes hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes that continue breaking down food, especially proteins.

4. Small Intestine: Where most of the digestion and absorption of nutrients occurs. Divided into three parts: duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. Pancreatic juice and bile aid digestion here.

5. Large Intestine: Absorbs water and electrolytes, turning chyme into feces. It is divided into cecum, colon, and rectum.

6. Liver: Produces bile, which is stored in the gallbladder and released into the small intestine to aid in fat digestion.

7. Pancreas: Produces digestive enzymes and sodium bicarbonate, which neutralizes stomach acid and facilitates digestion in the small intestine.

8. Gallbladder: Stores and concentrates bile produced by the liver, releasing it into the small intestine to help digest fats.

Socioemotional Feedback Activity

Duration: (35 - 40 minutes)

Exploring the Digestive System with 3D Models

Students will build 3D models of the main components of the digestive system using various materials. This hands-on activity will help reinforce theoretical knowledge visually and tactilely, as well as promote social skills and teamwork.

1. Divide students into small groups of 3 to 4.

2. Distribute materials (modeling clay, cardboard, glue, scissors, etc.) to each group.

3. Guide students to build models of the main components of the digestive system (mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder).

4. Ask students to label each part of the model and explain its functions to their peers.

5. Circulate around the room, providing guidance and feedback as students work.

6. At the end of the construction, each group will present their model to the class.
