Emotional Warmup Activity

Guided Meditation for Focus and Concentration

The warm-up activity we will use is Guided Meditation. This technique guides students through a process of relaxation and visualization that promotes focus, mindfulness, and concentration. During this meditation, students are instructed to close their eyes, take deep breaths, and follow a soothing narrative that helps them settle down and prepare for the lesson.

1. Invite students to sit comfortably in their chairs, with their feet on the floor and their hands resting in their laps.

2. Encourage them to close their eyes and start to breathe deeply, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, at a slow pace.

3. Instruct them to concentrate on their breathing, feeling the air enter and exit their lungs.

4. Begin the meditation narrative: 'Picture yourself in a serene setting, like a lakeshore or a meadow. Feel the gentle wind and listen to the harmonious sounds around you. Release all your worries and focus solely on this moment of tranquility.'

5. Continue the narrative for about 5 minutes, describing calming scenarios and encouraging students to maintain their focus on the imagery.

6. After the meditation, have students slowly open their eyes and do some gentle stretching to awaken their bodies.

7. Wrap up the activity by asking students how they feel and whether they're ready to dive into the lesson.

Content Contextualization

Understanding verbs in the imperfect future and perfect future tenses is essential for effective communication in Spanish. Imagine planning a trip to a Spanish-speaking country next year. To express your intentions and expectations, you'll need to use the imperfect future, like 'I will be heading to Spain next summer.' Conversely, when discussing your accomplishments by a certain time, you'll refer to the perfect future, such as 'I will have learned Spanish by the time of my trip.' These tenses not only improve clarity in communication but also help convey emotions and expectations effectively. Mastering these verb forms can also enrich social interactions, as it enables you to share your plans and dreams with others, cultivating more empathetic and impactful communication.

Activity with Socioemotional Feedback

Duration: 30 - 35 minutes

Planning the Future

In this activity, students will create a detailed plan outlining their goals and expectations for both the short and long term, utilizing the imperfect future and perfect future tenses. The aim is not only to practice these verb forms but also to encourage reflection on their own aspirations and the development of socioemotional skills.

1. Pair students up or place them in small groups.

2. Have each group discuss and compile a list of their goals and plans for the next 5 years (using the Imperfect Future).

3. Next, ask them to articulate what they will have accomplished during that time frame (using the Perfect Future).

4. Each group will prepare a brief presentation (3-5 minutes) to share their goals and plans with the class.

5. Encourage specificity and realism in their descriptions, ensuring correct usage of the verbs.

6. During the presentations, jot down the different uses of the verb tenses on the board for future reference.

Discussion and Group Feedback

Following the presentations, facilitate a group discussion using the RULER method to offer socioemotional feedback. Begin by acknowledging the emotions expressed by students during their presentations, focusing on feelings of excitement, nervousness, or pride. Ask them how they felt while sharing their plans and goals, fostering an understanding of the reasons behind these emotions and their outcomes. Next, encourage students to name the emotions they experienced, helping to broaden their emotional vocabulary. Discuss how they expressed these feelings and if there were moments when regulating their emotions was challenging. Wrap up by exploring strategies for managing emotions in future scenarios, such as the guided meditation conducted at the beginning of the lesson.

Conclusion

Duration: 20 - 25 minutes

Reflection and Emotional Regulation

To contemplate the challenges faced during the lesson and how students navigated their emotions, suggest an individual writing task. Ask students to pen a paragraph reflecting on how they felt while learning and applying the imperfect future and perfect future tenses. They should consider the obstacles they faced, their feelings regarding these challenges, and the strategies employed to manage their emotions. Alternatively, host a group discussion where each student can voice their emotional experiences and the methods they used to handle their feelings during the lesson.

Objective: The aim of this section is to promote self-assessment and emotional regulation, guiding students to identify effective strategies for managing challenging situations. By reflecting on their emotional experiences and the coping techniques used, students will cultivate a deeper emotional awareness and understand how to apply these strategies in future scenarios.

Glimpse into the Future

To set both personal and academic goals with respect to the lesson material, instruct students to create a list of three goals they aim to achieve in the upcoming month related to their understanding of the imperfect future and perfect future tenses. Emphasize that these goals can encompass both academic targets, like improving their writing accuracy in Spanish, and personal objectives, such as incorporating these tenses into everyday conversations.

Penetapan Objective:

1. Enhance accuracy in conjugating the imperfect future and perfect future tenses.

2. Utilize the verb forms correctly in written and spoken activities.

3. Incorporate the verb tenses into daily conversations, fostering ongoing practice of the Spanish language.

4. Build confidence in using the verb tenses across varied contexts.

5. Maintain a learning journal to track progress and identify areas for further practice. Objective: The purpose of this section is to promote student independence and the practical use of learning, aiming for continued academic and personal growth. By setting clear and attainable goals, students are motivated to implement the knowledge gained in practical situations, encouraging ongoing and meaningful learning.
