Introduction

Duration: 15 - 20 minutes

The purpose of this stage is to spark initial curiosity among students about the topic and prepare them for a deeper discussion. The warm-up with digital research on morality encourages students to connect with the theme in a personal and contextualized way. The key questions guide the initial discussion, allowing students to share their ideas and prior understandings, which will facilitate a smooth transition to the subsequent practical activities.

Warming Up

Start the class with a brief explanation of the importance of morality in society. Discuss how morality is present in all human interactions and how it helps define what is considered right or wrong in different cultural contexts. Then, instruct students to use their phones to find an interesting fact or recent news related to morality. Ask them to share their findings with the class.

Initial Reflections

1. What is morality and how does it differ from ethics?

2. How does morality influence the decisions we make in our daily lives?

3. Can moral standards vary between different cultures? Why?

4. What are some common moral dilemmas that young people face today?

5. How do social media impact our perception of morality and ethical behavior?

Development

Duration: 70 - 80 minutes

The purpose of this stage is to provide students with a practical and immersive experience that allows the application of morality concepts in real and fictional situations. The activities are designed to engage students, encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity, while exploring the complexities of morality in modern contexts.

Activity Suggestions

It is recommended that only one of the suggested activities be carried out

Activity 1 - 🚀 Ethical Influencer Mission

> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Encourage students to reflect on the application of morality in the digital context and empower them to create content that promotes ethical values on social media.

- Description: Students will become digital influencers for a day! They must create a social media campaign that promotes positive moral values among young people. Using different platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter, students should create posts, short videos, stories, and tweets addressing themes such as honesty, respect, empathy, and responsibility.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Each group must choose a moral value that will be the focus of their campaign.

  • Students should research real examples of successful social media campaigns that promoted positive values.

  • Using their phones, students must create multimedia content (posts, videos, stories, tweets) that addresses the chosen moral value.

  • Groups should compile all created content into a digital presentation (can be in Google Slides or similar) to share with the class.

  • Each group must present their campaign to their peers, explaining the choice of the value, the strategy used, and the expected impact.

Activity 2 - 🎮 Moral Dilemma Game

> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Foster critical thinking and ethical discussion among students, encouraging them to consider different perspectives and justifications for resolving moral dilemmas.

- Description: Students will participate in a gamified moral dilemmas game! Using an online quiz creation platform like Kahoot or Quizizz, groups will face a series of moral dilemmas. They must discuss and decide the best solution for each dilemma, considering the concepts of morality studied.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Explain that each group will face different moral dilemmas presented on the online quiz platform.

  • Each group must discuss internally and choose the best solution for each dilemma presented.

  • Using their phones, students must access the quiz on the chosen platform (Kahoot or Quizizz) and answer the questions.

  • After completing the quiz, groups should discuss their answers and justifications with the rest of the class.

  • The teacher should moderate the discussion, highlighting important points and different perspectives on each dilemma.

Activity 3 - 📱 Ethical Storytelling on Social Media

> Duration: 60 - 70 minutes

- Objective: Develop storytelling and critical analysis skills while exploring moral dilemmas in a fictional context, encouraging students to reflect on the ethical consequences of actions.

- Description: Students will create a digital narrative using a fictional social network. They will receive a scenario and various characters with different moral dilemmas. The goal is to develop a continuous story by publishing posts, messages, and interactions between the characters, showing how each one deals with their dilemmas.

- Instructions:

  • Divide the class into groups of up to 5 students.

  • Provide a scenario and a list of fictional characters for each group, including the moral dilemmas each character faces.

  • Students should develop a continuous narrative where characters interact with each other through posts on a fictional social network (can be on a blogging platform or a collaborative document simulating a social network).

  • Each group must create posts, comments, and direct messages showing how each character deals with their dilemmas and interacts with others.

  • After creating the narrative, groups should share their story with the class and discuss the choices made by each character and the moral implications of those choices.

  • The teacher should facilitate the discussion, helping students analyze the ethical consequences of the characters' actions.

Feedback

Duration: 20 - 25 minutes

The purpose of this stage is to consolidate learning, allowing students to reflect on the experiences lived, discuss their perceptions, and receive constructive feedback. This process not only reinforces understanding of morality concepts but also promotes communication, critical thinking, and collaboration skills, essential for their personal and academic development.

Group Discussion

Facilitate a group discussion with all students, where groups share what they learned from the activities and their conclusions. Use the following outline to introduce the discussion:

  1. Introduction: Start by highlighting the importance of sharing experiences and learnings. Express the expectation that everyone participates actively and respectfully.

  2. Sharing: Invite each group to briefly present the main points from their 'Ethical Influencer Mission', the moral dilemmas faced in the 'Moral Dilemma Game', and the stories developed in the 'Ethical Storytelling on Social Media'. Encourage them to mention the challenges encountered and the solutions created.

  3. Reflection: After the presentations, open the floor for students to discuss what stood out to them in their peers' presentations. Ask how the activities influenced their understanding of morality and ethics.

  4. Synthesis: Conclude the discussion by highlighting common points and lessons learned. Reinforce the importance of applying moral values in daily life and digital interactions.

Reflections

1. What were the biggest challenges encountered during the activities, and how did you solve them? 2. How did the experience of creating ethical campaigns and narratives on social media change your perception of digital morality? 3. In what way were the moral dilemmas discussed in the game similar to or different from those you face in real life?

360° Feedback

Instruct students to conduct a 360° feedback session where each student will receive constructive feedback from their group members. Guide the class to ensure that the feedback is specific, respectful, and focused on three main aspects:

  1. Individual Contributions: Highlight what each group member did well and how their contributions helped in carrying out the activities.

  2. Teamwork: Discuss the group's dynamics, including aspects of communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

  3. Future Improvements: Suggest areas where each student could improve, offering practical and positive suggestions.
