Context
Welcome to the colourful and captivating journey of Visual Arts! This art form can be understood as the creation of works that are primarily visual in nature, such as painting, photography, and sculpture. However, Visual Arts also include other expressive forms such as dance and theatre.
Visual arts enable us to express our thoughts, emotions, and imaginations in creative ways. Moreover, they play a pivotal role in culture, documenting different times and societies, helping unite people from all over the world, and even acting as a vehicle for social change.
Theoretical Introduction
In this project, we will get to know and explore the basic elements of Visual Arts: line, colour, and dot. A line is the path between two points, it can be straight or curved, thick or thin, continuous or broken. It is the basic element of all drawings and can create shapes, contours, and movements.
Colour is a fundamental element in art. They are what bring drawings to life, and they can convey different moods and emotions. There are three primary colours (red, blue, and yellow) that cannot be created by mixing any other colours, but from these primary colours, we can create all other colours, which are called secondary and tertiary colours.
The dot is the most basic element of a drawing and is the building block for all other elements. A single dot may not seem like much, but dots together can form lines, and lines can form shapes, patterns, and textures.
Importance of Visual Arts
Visual Arts are a form of communication that allows us to express ideas and emotions. Throughout history, it has helped people understand cultures and history. It allows us to express our creativity and explore new ways of seeing the world.
In addition, engaging in visual arts can help develop essential skills. They help us improve our ability to think creatively, solve problems, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively. All these are fundamental for our development, both in school as well as in our social and professional lives.

Hands-on activity: "Establishing our own Art Gallery"
Project Goal
The goal of this activity is to create an art gallery, where each team will be responsible for creating artworks exploring the basic elements of visual arts - line, colour, and dot - and reflecting on the creative process.
Detailed Project Description
Divided into groups of 3 to 5 students, you will create your own art gallery! Each group will produce three artworks, one focused on each of the visual art elements: line, colour, and dot.

Line: Create an artwork that explores lines. Use different types of lines - straight, curved, thick, thin - to create movement and texture.

Colour: Create an artwork focused on colours. You can mix the primary colours to form secondary and tertiary colours. Remember, different colours can convey different feelings!

Dot: Create an artwork using dots. Experiment with dots of different sizes and colours. Think about how dots can form lines and shapes when grouped together!
You should plan your artworks together, discussing ideas and collaborating. Remember, the process of creation is as important as the final product!
Materials
- A3 size paper
- Pencils and eraser
- Gouache paint (primary colours: red, blue, yellow)
- Paintbrushes of different sizes
- Water cups to wash brushes
- Painting palette or plate to mix colours
- Colourful markers
- Colourful EVA
Step-by-step

Form groups of 3 to 5 students and organize a workspace where you will have space to create your artworks.

After planning your artworks, it is time to bring your ideas to life! Use the materials provided to create your artworks. Experiment, explore, and have fun during the creative process.

After finishing your artworks, each group should organize an art gallery in a space of the classroom. Display your artworks and invite other groups to visit your gallery.

Finally, each group will present their artworks to the class, explaining their creative process and how they explored the visual art elements in each artwork.

After presenting, the groups will visit the other team's galleries. Observe how each group has used the visual art elements in their creations.
