The Project: Time and Experience Explorers

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to help students understand the importance of time and experience in Geography through the practice of investigation, discoveries, and presentations. These time and experience explorers will create a 'Time and Space Travel Book', where each group will choose an important historical event and explore how this event affected the landscape and climate of a specific place over time.

Project Description

Each group of students will choose a historical event (for example, the discovery of Brazil, the construction of the Great Wall of China, the colonization of Ancient Egypt, etc.) and will research how this event affected the landscape and climate of the place where it occurred. The students will create a 'Time and Space Travel Book' that will show the changes over time, through texts, images, maps, drawings, and even small models.

Required Materials

• Cardboard or cardstock for the book cover
• A4 paper sheets or notebook for the book content
• Pencils, colored pens, crayons, markers
• Scissors and glue
• Magazines, newspapers, internet for research
• Craft materials (optional): yarn, fabrics, buttons, etc.

Step by Step

1. Event Selection: The group must choose a historical event that is of interest to them. The event should be significant and have had an impact on the landscape and climate of the place where it occurred.

2. Research: The group must research the chosen event. They should find out when it happened, where it happened, what were the main changes in the landscape and climate of the place, and how these changes affected the lives of people and animals.

3. Book Creation: Using the provided materials, the group must create the 'Time and Space Travel Book'. The book cover should have the title of the event and the names of the authors (the group members). Inside the book, each page should represent a period of time. For example, if the event lasted 100 years, the book should have 100 pages.

4. Book Content: Each page of the book should contain information and images about the place before, during, and after the event. Students can use drawings, magazine cutouts, printed or internet photos, maps, and even small models made with craft materials to represent the changes that occurred.

5. Presentation: After completing the book, each group must make a presentation to the class, explaining the event they chose, the changes that occurred in the place where it happened, and how these changes affected the lives of people and animals. Presentations can be done creatively, such as a play, a news report, an interview, or any other form the group prefers.

This project will help students develop various skills, such as research, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, and time management. Additionally, they will learn about the relationship between time and experience, and how these concepts are important for understanding geography.
