Hello there, young geographers! Here's an exciting and educational project that will help us explore our own lives a little better. We're going to investigate and discover more about our homes, our beloved toys, the clothes we wear, the furniture we use, and the objects that fill our days.
Our homes are the places where we live with our families. Homes can be houses, apartments, farms, trailers, or even tents. And each type of home has different features which can change depending on where in the world we live, the climate, the culture, and many other factors.
The toys we love can also tell us a lot about our lives. They can show us how we like to play, what we enjoy doing, and they can give us a glimpse into our cultures.
Our clothing is also super important. Clothes help to protect us from the cold or the heat and they can say a lot about us too. Different clothes might be more suitable for different occasions, like clothes for school, for going to bed, or for a party.
The furniture and objects in our homes give us more clues about our lives too. These things help us go about our daily routine and can help show us how we choose to live.
The Importance of Geography
Geography is all about helping us understand how places are formed, how people live, and how they interact with the world around them. It can help us find out, for example, why some cities are busy and big and others are quiet and small. Or why some places are freezing cold but others are boiling hot.
Geography can also teach us about all the interesting cultures that exist around the world. Each place has its own unique culture, with its own traditions, food, music, dance, and more. It's what makes our world such an interesting and beautiful place!

Project Activity: "My Dreamy House"
Project Aim
The aim of this project is for students to explore different aspects of our daily lives, from our homes, to our toys, the clothes we wear, the furniture in our houses, and the many objects we use. They will also get a chance to develop social and emotional skills such as teamwork, creativity, communication, and problem-solving.
Project Outline
This project will be a hands-on activity that students will complete in groups of 3 to 5. Each group will be designing and making a 3D model of their "Dreamy House" using recyclable materials and other bits and pieces they can find at home. Their house must reflect everyday aspects of their real lives, including elements of their homes, the toys they play with, the clothes they have, and the objects they value.
Materials
- Recyclable materials (cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, toilet rolls, etc)
- Colored card
- Blunt-end scissors
- Glue
- Paints (and paintbrushes)
- Pens and pencils
- Magazines (for cutting out pictures)
Step-by-Step Instructions

Group formation: Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5. Each group will be supplied with a pack of basic project materials.

Planning the Dreamy House: As a group, discuss and plan what your "Dreamy House" will look like. Think about your home, the toys you would like to include, which clothes you might wear, and the important objects and furniture you would add.

Dreamy House Making: Now that you have a plan, it's time to start creating your house. You might want to use cardboard to form the structure of the house, plastic bottles could become furniture, toilet rolls as characters, and so on. Use your art supplies to further decorate your house.

Dreamy House Presentations: Once your dreamy houses are all finished, you will take turns to present and explain them to the class, talking about how you went about making it and what each part represents.
Submission
Your project submission will take the form of your "Dreamy House" that you have presented to the class. In addition, each group will create a short text, written independently or with the help of a teacher, describing the choices you made when creating, and discussing what different parts of your house represent.
