Each of us, with our experiences, feelings, thoughts, and actions, shapes the world in a unique and special way. And that's what makes us 'subjects' - active individuals who participate in the construction of the place where we live.

And how can we, little explorers, better understand our place in the world? One way is to look at the different places that exist and how each of them is different and, at the same time, similar to ours. For this, Geography uses a very important concept: that of 'Place'. Place is a portion of space that has meaning for us, human beings. It is where we live, where we play, where we learn, where we build our memories.

Project Objective

In this activity, students will work in groups to create a 'Map of Places', exploring the concept of Place, and at the same time, reflecting on their place in the world. The objective is to promote understanding of the geographical and cultural differences between places, and to develop socio-emotional skills such as empathy, collaboration, and communication.

Project Description

Each group will create a 'Map of Places', representing different places in the world. For this, students must research the climate, fauna, flora, culture, and tourist attractions of each chosen place. In addition, students should represent their place in the world, describing their own characteristics and what they consider important in their space.

Required Materials

• Large paper for map creation
• Colored pencils, markers, and crayons
• Magazines and newspapers for cutouts
• Glue
• Blunt scissors
• Books or internet access for research

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Place Selection: Each group should choose 3 different places in the world. It can be a country, a city, or even a neighborhood.

3. Research: Students should research the chosen places. They can use books, the internet, or ask for help from parents. They should look for information about the climate, fauna, flora, culture, and tourist attractions of each place.

4. Creation of the Map of Places: With the collected information, students should create the 'Map of Places'. Each place should be represented with drawings, cutouts, colors, etc. Students should also write a brief description of each place on the map.

5. Reflection on 'My Place in the World': In the corner of the map, each student should draw and write about their 'Place in the World'.
