Project Objective

In this project, you will form groups and become true history detectives. The goal is to research and discover the history of your school and your community. You will create a 'Timeline Map', which will be an illustrated timeline with the most important moments in the history of the school and the community.

Project Description

You will form groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group should research the history of the school and the community. For this, you can talk to teachers, staff, parents, grandparents, and even search on the internet (with adult supervision, of course!).

After the research, you will create a timeline map. You can draw the map on a large paper or cardboard and use stickers, drawings, and words to represent the most important moments in history. Remember to include the year or date when each event occurred.

Necessary Materials

• Large paper or cardboard
• Colored pencils, markers, crayons
• Stickers
• Old magazines and newspapers for cutting (optional)
• Glue

Step by Step

1. Form the groups and choose who will do each task. You will need someone to research, someone to draw and write, and someone to coordinate the group's work.

2. Start the research. Write down all the interesting information you discover about the history of the school and the community.

3. After finishing the research, discuss together what are the most important moments in history that you have discovered. Make a list of these moments.

4. Now, it's time to create the timeline map. Draw a straight line on the paper or cardboard. This will be the timeline.

5. Use colored pencils, markers, and stickers to represent the important moments in history. Remember to include the year or date when each event occurred.

6. Once the timeline map is ready, each group will present their work to the class. You will share what you have learned about the history of the school and the community.

Each group must deliver their timeline map and also present their work to the class. The presentation should include an explanation of each important event in the history of the school and the community that was included in the timeline map.
