Hello, little learners! Our next project is about something very important that we use every day: time. Have you ever stopped to think about how it would be if we didn't have ways to measure time? How would we know when to wake up, when to eat, or when to play?

Time is an essential part of our lives. It helps us organize our days, weeks, months, and years. Knowing about time is like having a compass that guides us through time and space. But how can we understand and measure time?

Introduction

In this project, we will explore 'Dates and Time Periods.' We will understand how time is divided into years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds. This will help you better understand the calendar we use to orient ourselves in time.

Did you know that our year has 365 days? That's right! And to make all these days fit perfectly into our calendar, every 4 years, we have a leap year, which has 366 days. Another important point is the months. Have you noticed that not all months have the same number of days? Some have 30 days, others have 31, and February, in normal years, has 28 days, and in leap years, has 29.

And what about weeks? Our year is divided into 52 weeks, and each week has 7 days. Do you know what this means? That every year, on the same day of the week, it's the same date. For example, if last year your birthday was on a Tuesday, this year it will be too!

Now, you must be wondering: how are all this information useful? Well, knowing about dates and time periods is very useful for planning our days, weeks, and years, and also for better understanding the world around us.

Practical Activity: 'Adventure in the Calendar'

Project Objective

Learn to recognize, compare, and count the basic elements of time, such as years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds, using the calendar and the clock.

Detailed Project Description

The students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will embark on an 'Adventure in the Calendar.' Each group will have to create their own personalized calendar, including important events such as holidays, birthdays, and dates of tests and school activities. They will also learn how to use the clock to read and count time.

Necessary Materials

• A3 paper sheets or cardboard
• Colored pens, colored pencils, crayons
• Ruler
• Blunt scissors (for younger students)
• Glue
• Old magazines, newspapers (optional, for cutouts and collages)

Step by Step

1. Creation of the Personalized Calendar:

• Each group will draw an annual calendar on an A3 paper sheet or cardboard. They should divide the paper into 12 equal parts to represent the months of the year.
• In each month, the students should write the days of the week and the numbers of the days. They should also draw or paste images representing the weather, the seasons, holidays, and important events they identified (e.g., birthdays, holidays, test dates, etc.).
• The students should decorate the calendar with colors and drawings, making it personalized and creative!

2. Time Counting:

• Each group will receive a toy clock or a wall clock. They should learn to read the hours and count the minutes.

3. Final Presentation:

• Each group will present their personalized calendar to the class. They should explain how time is divided, how to read the hours, and how they used the calendar and the clock to count time.
• During the presentation, the other students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn even more about time and the calendar.
