Aim of the Project
To compare the length of different objects using basic mathematical concepts of length, while reinforcing the importance of teamwork, communication, and time management.
Project Description
Teams of students will collect a variety of objects of different sizes and lengths, and then compare and order these objects. They will record their observations in a table and finally present their findings to the class.
Materials Required
- Variety of objects of different sizes (e.g., pencils, pens, erasers, paper clips, sheets of paper, etc.)
- Ruler
- Measuring tape
- Paper and pencils for recording
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Form Teams
Divide the class into teams of 3-4 students. Each team will work together to complete the activity.
2. Collect the Objects
Each team should collect at least 5 objects of varying sizes.
3. Measure the Objects
Using the ruler, measure the length of each object in centimeters (cm). Record the measurements on a piece of paper.
4. Compare the Objects
Compare the lengths of the objects. Discuss as a team which ones are longer and which ones are shorter.
5. Order the Objects
