Moreover, size comparison is essential for many other things we do. When we are playing with our friends, for instance, we often need to compare the size of our toys, right? Who has never had a competition to see who had the fastest car or the tallest doll?
And it's not just in play that size comparison is important. At the supermarket, for example, when we go to buy fruits and vegetables, we need to know which is the largest and which is the smallest to choose the best ones. And guess what? All of this is mathematics!

Practical Activity: "The Great Challenge of Sizes"
Project Objective
In this activity, you will become true size detectives! The goal is to compare different objects and identify which is larger, which is smaller, and which is the same size. Thus, you will practice the skill of comparing sizes and develop a more discerning eye for the sizes of objects around you.
Project Description
In groups of 3 to 5 students, you will create a "Size Gallery". This gallery will consist of a series of posters, each with the representation of two objects of different sizes (for example, a pencil and a pen, a glass and a bottle, etc.). You must identify which object is larger, which is smaller, and if the objects are the same size.
Required Materials
To carry out this activity, you will need:
- Cardboard or colored cardstock
- Pencil, pen, and eraser
- Ruler
- Glue
- Blunt scissors
- Magazines (to cut out pictures)
Step by Step

Gather the Materials: First, gather all the materials needed for the activity. Each group should have at least one complete set of materials.

Choose the Objects: Now, look around the classroom and choose some objects of different sizes. It could be a pen and a pencil, a glass and a bottle, a book and a notebook, etc.

Make the Drawings: With the help of the ruler, draw the objects on the cardboard or cardstock. Try to make the drawing as similar as possible to the real object.
