Activity Title: "The Great Research"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to allow students to practice collecting, analyzing, and comparing data from simple research. In addition, they will learn the importance of verifying information from different sources and understand how Mathematics can help us in this process.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5, and each group will be assigned a theme to research, such as "pets," "favorite fruits," "favorite colors," etc. Each student in the group will have to conduct a survey with at least 10 people (it can be family, friends, neighbors, etc.) and collect data on the research theme.

After collecting the data, students will use Mathematics to analyze the information. They will create simple graphs (such as bar graphs or pie charts) to show the research results. They will also calculate the average of the collected data and learn about the importance of the average in data analysis.

In the end, each group will present the results of their research to the class, explaining how they collected the data, how they used Mathematics to analyze the information, and what conclusions they drew from the results.

Required Materials

  • Paper and pencil for data collection
  • Ruler, compass, and colored pencils to create graphs
  • Calculator (if possible)

Detailed Step-by-Step

  1. Group Formation: Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people.
