Games and Fun: Hide and Seek and Tag

Contextualization

Hello, little adventurers! Today, we will embark on a fun journey through the world of games and play. Did you know that, besides being so much fun, games play an important role in our lives? They help us interact with other people, learn how to win and lose, and develop abilities such as quickness, strategy, and cunningness. And best of all: we can learn all of this while playing!

Let's start by talking about two classic games that you most certainly know: Hide-and-Seek and Tag. These games, besides being very popular, have many benefits for our bodies and minds. Have you ever stopped to think about that?

Introduction

Hide-and-Seek is a game that stimulates our creativity and reasoning skills. In it, one player counts to a certain number while all the others hide. After finishing the count, the player who was counting must search for the other players who hid. The goal of the players who hid is not to be found.

Tag, on the other hand, is a game that develops our movement, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. In this game, one player is chosen to be the "tagger" and all the other players must run away from them. The tagger's goal is to touch one of the other players so that that player becomes the new tagger.

Both games are great for improving skills such as perception, motor coordination, logical reasoning, respect for rules, and teamwork. Furthermore, they are so much fun and can be played in several situations: at school, at home, in the park, and even at the beach! So, are you all ready to become true masters of these games? Let's go on this adventure together!

Practical Activity: "Adventure into the Gaming World"

Project Goal

The goal of this project is to give students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on the games Hide-and-Seek and Tag, while practicing socio-emotional skills such as communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, and time management. Besides that, the students will have the chance to exercise practicing physical activities and experience the importance of teamwork.

Project Description

The students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, must create and present a mini illustrated manual on one of the games: Hide-and-Seek or Tag. The manual should contain a detailed description of the game, its rules, tips and strategies, and, of course, many illustrations that help to better understand how the game works.

At the end of the project, each group will present their manual to the class, explaining everything they learned about the game they chose.

Required Materials

  • A4 paper or cardboard
  • Colored pens, color pencils, crayons
  • Ruler
  • Blunt scissors
  • Glue
  • Old magazines (to cut and paste, if necessary)

Step by Step

  1. Group Formation: The students must be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group chooses a captain, who will be responsible for organizing and leading the group's work.

  2. Game Choice: Each group must choose one of the games: Hide-and-Seek or Tag to be the theme of their manual.

  3. Research and Planning: The groups must research the game they chose, its rules, how it is played, strategies, etc. Based on this research, the students must plan what their manual will be like, thinking of how they will explain all this information in a clear and fun way.

  4. Manual Creation: With the available material, the students must create their manual. They can use drawings, collages, writing, whatever they think is best to explain the game. Remember that the manual must be very explanatory and the illustrations must help to understand the game.

  5. Presentation Preparation: While they create the manual, the students must also think about the presentation they will give to the class. The group captain should help organize this presentation so that all the group members have the opportunity to participate.

  6. Manual Presentation: Finally, the groups present their manual to the class. Each student must participate in the presentation, helping to explain the game and answering their classmates' questions.

Remember, the idea is to have a lot of fun with this activity! So, let's get to work, adventurers!
