Today we are going to explore the parts of plants: Root, Stem, Leaf, Flower, Fruit, and Seed, and understand the important role each one plays in the plant's functioning.
Our journey begins at the base of the plant, the Root. Some roots are below the ground and others can be on the surface or even in the air. They absorb water and nutrients from the soil, anchor the plant to the ground, and can even store food. Next is the Stem, which functions as a transportation road for the plant. It carries water and nutrients from the root to the rest of the plant and also provides support for the plant to remain upright.
Now we come to the Leaf, a true food factory. Photosynthesis occurs in the leaves, the process through which plants produce their own food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide. The flower, besides being beautiful, has a very important function, it is responsible for the plant's reproduction. The fruit, which forms after the fertilization of the flower, contains the seeds that will give rise to new plants. The seed, in turn, is like a tiny package that contains everything needed for a new plant to grow.

Plants are essential for life on Earth. They provide the oxygen we breathe, are the basis of the food chain, and shelter an incredible diversity of animals. In addition, they play a key role in maintaining the global climate, capturing carbon dioxide, one of the gases responsible for the greenhouse effect, during photosynthesis.
Our daily life is also intrinsically linked to plants. Besides being an important source of food, they are also used in the production of medicines, clothing, furniture, oils, cosmetics, and many other products. Understanding how plants work and their importance to us and the environment is essential for our survival and well-being. Project Objective:
This project aims to facilitate students' understanding of the parts of plants and their functions, through the creation of a model representing a plant and its main parts (root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit, and seed).
Detailed Project Description:
Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 children, will build a model of a plant using recyclable and craft materials. Each group should represent each part of the plant in their model and, in a presentation to the class, explain what each part does and why it is important for the plant's health and survival.
Materials Needed:
- Cardboard or paper
- Colored paper
- Colored pens
- Scissors (blunt tip)
- Glue
- Popsicle sticks
- String or yarn
- Clay or modeling clay
Detailed Step-by-Step for the Activity:

The groups will research the parts of the plant and their functions. They should take notes of important information to use in the next step.

Using cardboard or paper as a base, the students will draw and cut out the parts of a plant (root, stem, leaf, flower, fruit, and seed) on colored paper.
