Practical Activity: 'The Alphabet Challenge'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to familiarize students with the English alphabet, helping them recognize the letters, associate them with words, and pronounce them correctly. Additionally, the project will encourage collaboration, creativity, and group problem-solving.

Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will create an Illustrated Alphabet. Each group will be responsible for a letter of the alphabet. They will have to research English words that start with the assigned letter, draw them, and write the word's name in English and Portuguese. In the end, the groups will put all the letters together to form the Illustrated Alphabet of the class.

Required Materials

• A4 paper or cardboard
• Colored pencils and markers
• Dictionary (can be online)
• Scissors and glue
• Ruler

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group will be responsible for a letter of the alphabet.

2. Word Research: Each group should research English words that start with the assigned letter. The dictionary can be used to help in the search.

3. Illustration of Words: After researching, students should draw the words they found. It is important that the drawings are colorful and well done.

4. Writing the Words: Below each drawing, students should write the word's name in English and, if possible, the translation into Portuguese.

5. Assembly of the Illustrated Alphabet: In the end, the groups should put all the letters together to form the Illustrated Alphabet of the class. They can use scissors and glue to assemble the panel.
