Welcome to our Project 'Journey with the Verb To Be'! Our focus is on the most used and probably the most important verb in the English language: the verb 'to be'. This verb is the equivalent in English to the verbs 'ser' and 'estar' in Portuguese. In English, however, these two verbs are represented by only one: 'to be'.

Therefore, we will delve deeply into its use and application in order to build a solid foundation for your English language learning.

After all, the English language is one of the most spoken languages in the world, it is the official language of many business and academic sectors, and is essential for international travel. Thus, the ability to communicate effectively in English can be a valuable asset in many life situations.

Activity Title: 'To Be or Not To Be: A Theatrical Play'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is:

1. To understand the usage and importance of the 'to be' verb in the English language.
2. To develop teamwork, time management, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Project Description

In this activity, groups of 3 to 5 students will create and present a short theatrical play in English, where all dialogues must contain the verb 'to be'. Additionally, the play must also include three different scenarios where the use of this verb is essential to express actions, describe states or characteristics, and form questions/answers.

Required Materials

• Paper and pen to write the script.
• Camera to record the presentation.
• Various resources for creating scenarios and costumes.

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Form groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group will be responsible for developing a theatrical play.

2. Play Planning: Each group should create a script for the play, which must contain dialogues and descriptions using the verb 'to be'. The play must include at least three different scenarios.

3. Rehearsals: Groups should rehearse the play until they are comfortable with the dialogue and the use of the verb 'to be'.

4. Filming: Record the theatrical play using the available resources. Ensure that the audio is clear enough for the actors' lines to be heard.

5. Submission: After finishing the filming, the video should be submitted along with the written script of the play.

6. Report Development: The report should reflect on the process of creating the play, describing the challenges and discoveries about the use of 'to be'. The report should be submitted along with the video and should include:

   • Introduction: Here, you should contextualize the theme, explain its relevance and application, and describe the project's objective.
