Practical Activity: 'The Journey of Migrations'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to promote understanding of the concept of migration and its different aspects, as well as to develop teamwork, research, creative thinking, and project presentation skills.

Project Description

Each group of students will be challenged to create a 'Migration Map' illustrating a migration journey of their choice. The students, together, will have to research the selected type of migration, the reasons people migrate, the consequences of migration, and possible solutions to the challenges that arise with migration.

Required Materials

• Large cardboard paper or poster board
• Colored pens, colored pencils, or markers
• Scissors
• Glue
• Magazines, newspapers, printed images (for collaging, if desired)
• Internet access for research

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group will be responsible for a 'Migration Map'.

2. Choose the Type of Migration: Each group should choose a type of migration to research and represent on their map. It can be the migration of early humans, the migration of Bantu peoples in Africa, the migration of Europeans to the Americas, migration during the Industrial Revolution, contemporary migration, among others.

3. Research and Information Gathering: The groups should conduct research on the chosen type of migration.
