In this project, we will explore the concepts of value equivalence in the context of buying and selling. Students will learn to identify the price of items, calculate the total of a purchase, understand the importance of the correct use of coins and bills for payment, and determine the necessary change accurately. These skills are essential not only for the understanding of basic mathematics but also for the development of the notion of the value of money and financial planning.

In addition to practicing mathematical calculations, students will also practice reading bills and coins, which is a fundamental skill in their daily lives. Detailed Project Description

The project is based on the simulation of a market, where students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 and will have to make purchases and sales transactions using fictitious money. They will act as customers and sellers, facing everyday situations, such as defining the appropriate amount for payments and calculating change.

Necessary Materials

  • Fictitious money in bills and coins (can be printed on paper)
  • List of products with varied prices
  • Baskets or small boxes (simulating shopping carts)
  • Simple calculators (to check calculations)
  • Notebooks or sheets to record the operations performed
  • Pencils or pens
  • Badges identifying students as "customer" or "seller"

Detailed Step by Step

Week 1: Preparation and Planning

  1. Formation of groups: Students will be divided into groups.
  2. Theoretical study: Introduction of the concepts of buying and selling through expository classes.
  3. Making the play money: The groups will be responsible for creating their own banknotes, reinforcing the recognition of banknotes and coins.

Week 4: Documentation and Presentation

  1. Preparation of the report: Each group will write a document containing Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography.
  2. Presentation: The groups will share their experiences and learning with the class.

Project Deliverables

Students should deliver and present at the end of the project:

  1. Written Report: The report must follow the following format:

    • Introduction: Contextualization of the theme and justification for its importance.
    • Development: Detailed description of the simulation performed, methodology, record of operations, and discussion of results.
