But what are vowels? They are the sounds that come out of our mouth when we open it wide and do not touch the tongue to anything. Vowels are very important in words because without them, we wouldn't be able to pronounce words correctly!

Project Objective

The objective of the project is for students to learn and practice identifying vowels in syllables through a playful and practical activity.

Project Description

In this project, students will work in groups of 3 to 5 people to create a board game called 'The Hunt for Vowels in Syllables'. The game consists of moving through the board, which will be divided into squares, and in each square, students will have to identify the vowels present in the syllable of a word.

Required Materials

1. Cardboard or cardstock to make the board
2. Colored markers
3. Die
4. Pieces for each group (can be buttons, bottle caps, stones, etc.)
5. Pencil and eraser
6. Children's storybooks

Step by Step

1. Board Preparation: Each group will draw a board with 20 squares on cardboard or cardstock. Each square on the board should be large enough to fit a written word.

2. Word Selection: With the help of the teacher, each group will choose 20 simple words that have 2 to 3 syllables. Try to choose words that are familiar to you, such as those that appear in storybooks.

3. Division of Words in Squares: Each chosen word must be divided into syllables and written in one of the squares on the board. Remember to put a number in each square to indicate the order in which the words should be played.

4. Game Rules Creation: Now, students must think about the game rules. For example, it can be decided that the player needs to guess the number of vowels in a syllable, or the specific vowel that is in the syllable. Use your creativity!

5. Board Decoration: Once ready, students can decorate the board with colored markers, making it cheerful and fun.

6. Test and Adjust: Before finalizing the project, each group should test the game to see if the rules are clear and if it is fun to play. If necessary, they can make adjustments to the rules.

7. Game Presentation: Finally, each group will present their game to the class, explaining how it works and how to play.
