Practical Activity

Activity Title: "Creating Our Dictionary of Professions"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is for students, in groups, to research, explore, and create an illustrated dictionary of professions in English. The activity aims to develop linguistic, research, time management, and teamwork skills.

Detailed Project Description

Student groups will be challenged to research, in English, the main professions and their respective terms in English. They should then create an illustrated dictionary, where each page will present a profession, its definition, and an illustration representing it.

Necessary Materials

  • Internet access for research
  • Drawing notebooks or A4 paper sheets
  • Colored pencils, markers, crayons
  • English dictionary (optional)
  • Cardboards or cardboard for the dictionary cover
  • Tape or glue
  • Blunt scissors

Step by Step

  1. Group Formation: Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will receive the title of "Explorers of the World of Professions".

  2. Research: With the help of the dictionary (optional) and the internet, groups should research the main professions. They should find out the profession's name in English, its definition, and some tasks that this profession performs.

  3. Organization of Information: After collecting the information, groups should organize the data in a list format. Each item on the list should contain the profession's name in English, the definition, and some tasks that this profession performs.

  4. Creating the Dictionary: Now it's time to bring our dictionary to life! Each item on the list should be transferred to a dictionary page. In addition to the information, each page should contain an illustration representing the profession.

  5. Illustrations: Students can draw the illustrations freehand or print images representing the professions. If they choose to print, they should write the image source on the page.

  6. Revision: After finishing the dictionary, each group should review it to check if all the information is correct, if the illustrations are well done, and if the pages are organized.

  7. Project Delivery: After the review, the dictionaries should be handed to the teacher. Each group will give a brief presentation of their dictionary to the class, sharing what they learned during the activity.

  8. Evaluation: The dictionaries will be evaluated based on the accuracy of the information, the quality of the illustrations, the organization of the pages, the collaboration among group members, and the final presentation.

Remember, explorers, the most important thing is to have fun learning and working together! Good luck!
