Contextualization

Hello, English language explorers! Let's embark on a great adventure through the world of words and expressions. Our first destination is the Vocabulary: Name and Greetings. Who doesn't like to introduce themselves and meet new people, right? This is a fundamental part of communication, so it is essential that we know the right words to use in these moments.

Have you ever stopped to think about the variety of ways we have to say "Hello" in English? Besides the famous "Hello", there are many other expressions that native speakers use in different situations. And how to introduce yourself? Knowing how to say our name correctly is very important and can prevent misunderstandings.

Introduction

The vocabulary we will explore includes both common words and expressions we use in our daily lives, as well as some more formal ones that can be used in special situations. Learning to greet someone properly is a way to show respect and courtesy, and this is highly valued in many cultures.

In the globalized world we live in, being able to communicate in English is a very valuable skill. Besides being the most spoken language in the world, English is also widely used on the internet, in business, and in the entertainment industry. Therefore, it is important that we start developing our English language skills from an early age.

But don't worry, exploring the vocabulary of name and greetings can be fun! Let's learn by playing, practicing, and collaborating. Are you ready for this amazing journey? Then, let's go!

Practical Activity: "Express Yourself!"

Project Objective

The objective of this activity is for students to practice the vocabulary of name and greetings in English in an interactive and playful way. They will be engaged in the learning process while developing communication, collaboration, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will create a slideshow presentation or a video where they will introduce themselves in English. They should use the correct greetings and expressions according to the context and also say their names clearly and precisely.

Necessary Materials

  1. Computer with internet access and presentation software (such as PowerPoint or Google Slides) or a cell phone camera to record the video.
  2. Paper, pencil, colored pen, stickers, magazines (for creating visual materials, if desired).

Step by Step

  1. Group Formation: The teacher will form groups of 3 to 5 students.

  2. Research: Each group should research different greetings and introduction expressions in English. They can use textbooks, dictionaries, reliable websites, and even ask for help from parents.

  3. Planning: Together, the students must decide how they will organize their presentation. They can create a script, draw images representing the greetings and expressions, or even rehearse dialogues.

  4. Creating the Presentation: Using presentation software or the cell phone camera, students must create their presentation. They can include photos, drawings, stickers, sound effects (if creating a video), anything that helps make the presentation more interesting and fun.

  5. Presentation: After completing their presentations, the groups will share their work with the class. They should try to use English as much as possible during the presentation.

  6. Discussion: After all presentations, the teacher will lead a classroom discussion, reviewing the vocabulary learned and highlighting the positive aspects of each presentation.

Remember, the goal is not just to complete the task, but to learn and have fun in the process. So, use your creativity, collaborate with each other, and enjoy the journey of discovering the English language!
