Practical Activity: 'Time Travelers'

Project Objective

The objective of the 'Time Travelers' project is for students to understand the units of time measurement (second, minute, hour, day, month, and year) and their relationships, as well as to practice socio-emotional skills such as communication, time management, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

Project Description

In this project, students will transform into true 'Time Travelers'. They will have to research and create an illustrated guide on different historical events, categorizing them according to units of time measurement. For example, the discovery of fire would be categorized as 'minutes' in the guide, the invention of the wheel would be categorized as 'hours', and so on.

Necessary Materials

• Sheets of paper
• Colored pencils
• Textbooks or history books
• Computer or tablet with internet access (for research)

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will be responsible for a historical period or event.

2. Research: Each group should research the historical period or event assigned to them. They must find out when it happened, how long it lasted, and what were the main occurrences.

3. Time Categorization: After the research, students must determine the time unit that best fits to represent the duration of the event. For example, if the event lasted a few days, the unit would be 'day'. If it lasted a few months, the unit would be 'month', and so on.

4. Creation of the Illustrated Guide: Based on the collected information, each group must create an illustrated guide. The guide should include an attractive cover, the name of the event or historical period, the unit of time measurement used to represent its duration, and several illustrations and descriptions of the main occurrences of the event over time.

5. Guide Presentation: After completing the guide, each group must present it to the class. They should explain the choice of the time unit of measurement and talk about the main occurrences of the event they researched.
