Practical Activity

Activity Title: "The Great Text Hunt: Exploring the World of Interpretation"

Project Objective:

The objective of this project is to develop the skill of text interpretation in English through a fun and challenging activity. By the end of the project, students will be able to recognize and apply the main tools of text interpretation, such as identifying keywords, understanding context, inferring meaning, and selecting relevant information.

Project Description:

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will receive a "Treasure Box," which will contain various short texts in English, with different levels of difficulty. The students will then have to "hunt" for the treasures, that is, interpret the texts to answer a series of questions and solve puzzles related to them.

Required Materials:

• Cardboard boxes, decorated by the students themselves, to be the "Treasure Boxes"
• Short texts in English (can be from textbooks, magazines, newspapers, or printed from the internet)
• Sheets of paper, pencils, and erasers for notes

Step by Step:

1. Group Formation: Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Decoration of the Treasure Boxes: Each group should decorate their cardboard box, which will be used to store the texts and notes.

3. Distribution of Texts: Each group receives a quantity of short texts in English, which should be placed inside the box.

4. Reading the Texts: The students, in their groups, must carefully read each of the texts, trying to understand as much as possible.

5. Treasure Hunt: After reading, the students must answer a series of questions and solve puzzles related to the texts. The correct answers will lead them to "discover" a treasure, which can be a keyword, a phrase, or even a new text to be interpreted.

6. Notes: During the activity, students should take notes on the strategies they are using to interpret the texts, such as identifying keywords, looking for clues in the context, inferring meanings, etc. These notes will be useful for later discussion.
