These evolutions were driven by the human desire to better communicate and understand their surroundings. Today, the digital has become the new global "language," a means of communication that integrates societies from all over the world.

It is crucial for our students to recognize that the application of language and technology in our study of history is not just an academic tool to decipher the past, but that both have played a fundamental role in how our society and our understanding of the world have developed.

The importance of understanding the interaction between language and technology is even more evident in our contemporary world, where digitization and globalization are rapidly changing how we communicate and understand history and culture.

Project Objective

This project aims to provide students with the opportunity to explore the impact and interaction of language and technology in different historical periods, providing a deeper understanding of how these factors have influenced society and the study of history.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will choose a specific historical period to explore the development and use of language and technology. They should research and analyze the forms of communication, the technologies used, and their impact on the society of the time, from ancient times to the current digital era.

Required Materials

There is no need for physical materials for this activity. Groups will need internet access to conduct research, an online collaboration tool to share ideas, and a text processing software to write the final report.

Detailed Step-by-Step

1. Selection of Historical Period: each group chooses a historical period they wish to study. This can be any era, from antiquity to the digital age.
2. Research: each group conducts in-depth research on the language and technology used in the chosen historical period.
3. Analysis: based on the research, students analyze how language and technology affected society and the study of history during that period. They should consider questions such as what forms of communication were predominant, what technologies were invented, and how these elements interrelated.
4. Report: Each group writes a detailed report of their findings, addressing the impact of language and technology on the society of the time and its implications for the study of history.

1. Oral Presentation: each group will present their findings to the class, including a summary of their research, analysis, and conclusions.
2. Written Report: Additionally, each group must submit a written report, containing four main parts: Introduction, Development, Conclusion, and Bibliography.

The Introduction should include a contextualization of the chosen historical period, the relevance of studying language and technology in that context, and the objectives of the research conducted. In the Development, students should detail the research they conducted, the forms of language and technology they identified, the methodology used to perform this analysis, and the results obtained. In the Conclusion, they should summarize the main points of their findings, what they learned during the project, and the implications of their findings for the study of history. The Bibliography should include all sources consulted during the research.

This project will allow students the opportunity to practice important skills, such as teamwork, research, critical analysis, writing, presentation, and time management. Additionally, they gain a deeper understanding of the impact of language and technology on the development of society and how we study history.
