Decimal numbers are numbers we use to represent parts of a whole. For example, when we take a pizza and divide it into 8 slices, each slice is a part of the pizza, and we can represent this using decimal numbers. For example: if each slice of pizza is worth 0.25 (read as 'zero point twenty-five'), then the whole pizza is worth 8 times 0.25, which is 2.

Introduction

Adding and subtracting decimal numbers are operations that allow us to solve everyday problems. For example, if we are going to the market and want to buy some fruits, we can use the addition of decimal numbers to know the total amount we will pay.

Another example is when we are saving money to buy a toy we like. If we manage to save $5.50 each week, we can use the addition of decimal numbers to know how much money we will have in 3 weeks.

In subtraction of decimal numbers, we can use this operation to calculate the change we will receive when buying something. For example, if we buy a snack that costs $9.50 and give a $20.00 bill, we need to subtract $9.50 from $20.00 to know how much change we will receive.

Project Objective
