Have you ever wondered why some games are more difficult than others? Besides needing skills like concentration, logical reasoning, and strategy, many games also depend on chance, that is, on the outcome of rolling a die, for example. And that's where the idea of 'Possible Outcomes' comes in.

Introduction

In Mathematics, we study a branch called Probability Theory, which helps us understand not only games but also many natural and social phenomena. Probability Theory studies the chance of an event happening, that is, the possibility of each possible outcome.

But what is a 'Possible Outcome'? It's what can happen when we roll a die, for example. A common die has six sides, numbered from 1 to 6. When we roll this die, what can happen? We can get a 1, a 2, a 3, a 4, a 5, or a 6. These are the possible outcomes.

Practical Activity: 'Playing with Possible Outcomes'

Project Objective

In this activity, you and your group will create a board game that involves rolling a die and counting the 'Possible Outcomes'. The idea is for you to have fun while learning more about probability and risk management.

Detailed Project Description

You will create a board game called 'Adventure of Possible Outcomes'. Each player will have to move through the board by rolling a die and advancing according to the number obtained. In each space on the board, there will be a question about 'Possible Outcomes'. The player will have to answer correctly to be able to advance. In the end, the player with the highest number of points is the winner.

Necessary Materials

  1. Cardboard or cardboard to make the board
  2. Colorful markers
  3. Die
  4. Cards or sheets of paper for the questions
  5. Pens or pencils to write the questions

Step by Step

  1. Group Formation: Divide into groups of 3 to 5 students.

  2. Board Planning: Together, draw the board on the cardboard or cardboard, using the colorful markers. Think of a theme for the game, it can be something that everyone likes, such as animals, superheroes, pirates, etc.

  3. Creating the Questions: Each group should come up with 10 questions related to 'Possible Outcomes'. The questions should be multiple choice, with 4 answer options. Remember to put the correct answer in one of the options.

  8. Game Presentation: Each group will present their game to the class. Explain the rules, show the board and the questions. Then, play the game together!
