Net and Wall Sports

Context

Hello, young athletes in training! Are you ready for an adventure full of adrenaline, cooperation, and fun? Our project 'Network and Wall Sports' will take us to a fascinating world where strategy, respect, and teamwork are the keys to victory. But before we start, let's understand a little about what these sports are and why they are so important.

'Network Sports' are those that involve a net as a fundamental part of the game. For example, volleyball, tennis, and badminton. In these sports, the net divides the field, and players must hit the ball over it to score points. 'Wall Sports,' on the other hand, are those in which a wall is used as part of the game, such as squash, wall tennis, and wall basketball. In these sports, the wall helps in the dynamics of the game, making the ball bounce back and requiring different skills from the players.

Importance of Network and Wall Sports

Now, you must be wondering, 'Why should we learn about these sports?' Well, 'Network and Wall Sports' are much more than just games. They teach us valuable lessons about cooperation, strategy, time management, communication, and, above all, respect. Additionally, they help us develop motor skills, such as coordination, agility, precision, and endurance.

In this project, we will dive into this universe of networks and walls and discover how these sports are played, what their rules are, and what skills are needed to become a true champion. And best of all, we will do this in a fun and interactive way, working in teams to create our own network and wall games. So, get ready, young athletes, because the adventure is just beginning!

Practical Activity: 'Creating Our Own Network and Wall Games'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to allow students to understand the basic concepts of 'Network and Wall Sports' and the skills needed to practice them. Additionally, the activity aims to develop socio-emotional skills, such as teamwork, communication, time management, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

Project Description

Students, in groups of 3 to 5, will be challenged to create and present a new game involving a net and/or a wall. The game must have clear rules and be playable in a limited space (such as the school court, the playground, etc.). Students will also need to document the creation process and present an explanation of the rules and skills required to play.

Required Materials

  • Paper and pen to write down the group's ideas
  • Recyclable materials or available objects for game construction
  • Camera or smartphone to record the creation process (optional)

Step by Step

Step 1: Study of Network and Wall Sports

Each group should research a 'Network Sport' and a 'Wall Sport' of their choice. They must understand the rules, the game dynamics, and the skills needed to practice it.

Step 2: Game Creation

After the research, the groups should gather and brainstorm a new game involving a net and/or a wall. They should consider the rules, the game dynamics, and the necessary skills they learned from the studied sports.

Step 3: Planning and Construction

With the game defined, students must plan how they will build it. They can use recyclable materials or objects available at school or at home. Remember that the game needs to be playable in a limited space.

Step 4: Game Testing

After construction, the group must test the game. They can invite other classmates or teachers to play and evaluate if the rules are clear and if the game is fun.

Step 5: Documentation and Presentation

Throughout the process, students must document each step, from the initial ideas to the final result. They can make drawings, write notes, or record videos explaining what they did. In the end, each group must make a presentation to the class, explaining the game rules and the skills required to play.

Remember that this project must be completed within a defined timeframe, so that students also learn to manage time efficiently. I am excited to see the creative games you will invent!
