Contextualization
Hello, class! Let's embark on an incredible journey through our body, more specifically, through the Digestive System. Have you ever stopped to think about how our body digests the food we eat? The Digestive System is responsible for that!
The Digestive System is like a large food factory inside us, where each part has a task to fulfill. It is formed by the digestive tract and by accessory organs, such as the liver and the pancreas. The digestive tract is composed of the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. Each of these organs plays an important role in digesting the food we ingest.
Introduction
Digestion is a complex process that starts in the mouth, with the chewing of food, and ends in the intestine, with the absorption of nutrients. During this journey, food is transformed into substances that our body can use to obtain energy, grow, and develop.
In addition to providing the nutrients we need, digestion also has another very important function: eliminating the waste that our body does not need. Thus, the Digestive System also collaborates with the Excretory System.
Now, you must be wondering, 'How does all this happen?' Well, that's what we are going to find out together! Let's understand how each part of the digestive system contributes to the digestion and absorption of food. And the best part is, we are going to do this in a practical and fun way, through the realization of an incredible project!
Remember, knowledge about the Digestive System is not only interesting but can also help maintain a healthy diet. When we understand how our body processes food, we can make more conscious food choices!
So, are you ready for this adventure through our body?
Practical Activity: 'Adventure in the Digestive System'
Project Objective
The objective of this project is for you, in groups of 3 to 5 students, to create a three-dimensional model of the Digestive System, demonstrating the path that food takes from the mouth to excretion, and present it to your classmates, explaining each stage of the process.
Detailed Project Description
Each group should create a three-dimensional model of the Digestive System using recyclable materials and stationery items. The model should be accompanied by an 'adventure book,' which will be a kind of explanatory guide of the path that food takes through the digestive system.
In the 'adventure book,' you should describe each stage of digestion, from the mouth to excretion, explaining what happens in each organ and how it contributes to the process. You can also include curiosities and tips for a healthy diet.
Necessary Materials
- Cardboard boxes
- Papier-mâché (shredded paper and glue)
- Poster paint (various colors)
- Colorful markers
- Colored pencils
- Blunt scissors
- Ruler
- White glue
- Paintbrushes of different sizes
- Cardstock
- Old magazines
- Bond paper
- Adhesive tape
Step by Step
-
Research and Planning: First, each group should research about the Digestive System, taking note of the most important information. Then, plan how the model will be built and the 'adventure book' created.
-
Model Construction: Using the cardboard boxes and papier-mâché, build the model of the Digestive System. Remember to represent each part of the system and leave space for the 'adventure book.'
-
Painting and Decoration: Once the papier-mâché glue is dry, it's time to paint the model. Use the poster paint, markers, colored pencils, and your creativity to bring the Digestive System to life.
-
Creation of the 'Adventure Book': On bond paper, write and draw the information you researched about the Digestive System. Remember to explain each stage of digestion and provide tips for a healthy diet.
-
Project Presentation: When the model and the 'adventure book' are ready, it's time to present them to the class. During the presentation, explain each part of the Digestive System and what happens at each stage of digestion.
Remember, creativity and the participation of all group members are very important!
