This happens because, often, one does not know how to correctly identify the stressed syllable or because accentuation rules are complex and have several exceptions.

Accentuation and word stress are closely related concepts and of great importance for mastering the Portuguese language, both in writing and in speech. The stress of a word is given by the syllable that is pronounced with more intensity compared to the others. Accentuation, on the other hand, refers to the use of diacritics, which serve to mark the stressed syllable of words, which can be the last, the penultimate, or the antepenultimate syllable.

Correct accentuation is essential for understanding the messages being conveyed, as it can differentiate words that have similar spellings but different meanings. Similarly, identifying the correct stressed syllable is important for the understanding and correct pronunciation of words.

Importance and Real-World Applications

Mastering accentuation and word stress is crucial for effective communication. These are fundamental concepts for correct writing and fluent reading. This is because correct accentuation can change the meaning of a sentence, potentially leading to misunderstandings when done incorrectly. Project Objective

The objective of this project is for students to learn the rules of diacritical accentuation and be able to identify word stress in a playful and collaborative way.

Detailed Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, will create a board game called "Accentuation Path." Throughout the board, players will encounter challenges related to accentuation and word stress that need to be solved to advance.

Required Materials

• Cardboard or cardstock for the production of the board;
• Colored cardboard and pens for creating questions and challenges;
• Small objects or figures to be used as game pieces;
• One die.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution

1. Each group should create their board, dividing it into several spaces. Some of these spaces should be marked as "challenge" and others as "luck or setback";

2. Now, they should create questions related to accentuation and word stress. Examples of questions would be "Is this word oxytone, paroxytone, or proparoxytone?" or "Is this word accented correctly?". The answers to these questions should be written on the back;

3. In addition, the groups should create "luck or setback" cards that contain both positive situations (such as advancing two spaces) and negative situations (such as moving back three spaces);

4. After completing the board, each group will present their game to the class, explaining the rules and how to play.

At the end of the project, each group must deliver:

1. The board game "Accentuation Path";

2. A written report on the experience of developing the project. The report should include:

   • Introduction: Contextualization of the theme, its relevance, and project objective;
   • Development: Explanation of the theory of accentuation and word stress, detailed description of the project, methodology used, and results obtained;
   • Conclusions: Summarize the main points of the project, learn from the experience, and draw conclusions about the project;
   • Bibliography: Indication of the sources used to carry out the project.
