Contextualization
Reading is a vital skill that allows us not only to acquire knowledge, but also helps us to develop our critical thinking, improve our focus and concentration, expand our vocabulary, among other benefits. This skill becomes even more fundamental in the school environment, where we are constantly introduced to new concepts and ideas that require a deep understanding to be absorbed and applied effectively.
There are several genres of texts that are presented to us in our daily lives, from instructions for use, news, short stories, comics, recipes, letters, emails, and much more. Each of these genres has its own characteristics and conventions, and it is important to be able to recognize and understand each of them so that we can respond appropriately to the information presented.
The use of conjunctions, for example, is a fundamental part of constructing the meaning of a text. They are used to establish a connection between two or more words, phrases, or sentences, and can indicate a relationship of addition, opposition, time, cause, condition, and purpose. Understanding these relationships is crucial to understanding the complete message that the author wants to convey.
In this project, we will explore more about the field of reading and text comprehension, focusing particularly on instructional texts of game rules and other genres relevant to everyday life. We will work in groups for a more collaborative and enriching experience, where we can learn together and help each other overcome any challenges that may arise.
We know that learning can be fun, which is why this project has been designed to be playful and engaging, making the learning process an enjoyable and memorable experience. We are eager to see how far you will go!

Hands-on Activity
Activity Title: "Playing with Reading and Comprehension"
Project Objectives:
- To increase understanding and deepen knowledge about reading instructional texts and game rules.
- To improve the ability to identify the use of conjunctions and the relationship they establish between parts of the text.
- To enhance socio-emotional skills such as time management, communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, and proactivity.
- To strengthen teamwork and collaboration among participants.
Detailed Project Description:
In this activity, groups of 3 to 5 students will select and study a game that the group enjoys, this can be a board game, a street game, a card game, or even a video game. Students will read and understand the rules of the chosen game and then prepare a didactic presentation of these rules for their classmates.
The activity will be divided into three parts: Reading and understanding the game rules, preparing the presentation of the rules, and the presentation itself.
Required Materials:
- Game chosen by the group with its rules printed (physical or digital).
- Paper and pen for notes.
- Computer with internet access (for research and preparing the presentation).
- Presentation software (such as PowerPoint, Google Slides).
Step by Step to Carry Out the Activity:
- Form groups of 3 to 5 students and choose the game of the group's preference.
- Read and understand the rules of the chosen game.
- Identify the use of conjunctions in the game rules and the relationship they establish between the parts of the text.
- Prepare a presentation explaining the game rules in detail.
- Include in the presentation examples of how conjunctions are used in the text of the game rules.
- Present to the class the explanation of the game rules.
- After the presentation is completed, the group should prepare a written report on the activity carried out.
Project Deliverables:
At the end of the hands-on activity, students must submit:
- The slide presentation of the game and its rules.
- The written report of the project, which must contain:
- Introduction: Describe the chosen game, its relevance in everyday life (i.e., where and by whom it is played), the purpose of the presentation, and the importance of a good understanding of the game rules.
- Development: Explain in detail the process of reading and understanding the game rules. Discuss how the conjunctions were identified in the text and the relationship they establish between the parts of the text. Describe the methodology used to prepare the presentation and present the discussion on the results obtained.
- Conclusion: Recap the main points of the project, discuss the lessons learned, and the conclusions drawn about reading and understanding instructional texts.
- Bibliography: List the sources used to work on the project (books, websites, videos, etc.).
