For example, the sentences 'Maria bought a cake' and 'The cake was bought by Maria' have the same meaning, but the first one is more direct and clear, as the subject 'Maria' is the one performing the action of buying.

Practical Activity: 'Sentence Detectives'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to allow each group of students to explore the relationships between personal pronouns and sentence subjects through the analysis and creation of sentences.

Project Description

To achieve the objective, each group will be a 'Sentence Detective'. They will have to decipher and understand the sentences, identifying the personal pronouns and sentence subjects. Additionally, they will create their own sentences, using personal pronouns appropriately and correctly identifying the subjects.

Necessary Materials

• Paper
• Pencils
• Colored pens
• Dictionary (optional)

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members.

2. Preparation of the Detective Kit: Each group must create a 'Detective Kit' with paper, pencils, and colored pens. They can also include a dictionary if they wish.

3. Project Explanation: The teacher should explain that each group will be a 'Sentence Detective' and that they will have to decipher and understand the sentences, identifying the personal pronouns and sentence subjects. Additionally, they will have to create their own sentences, using personal pronouns appropriately and correctly identifying the subjects.

4. Sentence Analysis: Each group will receive a set of sentences to analyze. They must write the sentences on their paper and, using the Detective Kit, identify the personal pronoun and the subject in each sentence. They can underline the personal pronouns and highlight the subjects with the colored pens.

5. Group Discussion: After analyzing all the sentences, students must discuss in groups what they have learned. They should try to answer questions like: 'What is a personal pronoun?', 'What is the function of the subject in the sentence?' and 'Why is it important to be able to identify the sentence subject?'.

6. Creation of Sentences: Now it's time for the detectives to become sentence writers! Each group must create five original sentences, using personal pronouns appropriately and correctly identifying the subjects. They should write the sentences on the paper and then explain to the teacher how they identified the personal pronoun and the subject in each one.

7. Presentation of Discoveries: Each group must present their findings and their sentences to the class. They can use the paper and colored pens to create a poster or a drawing that represents what they have learned.
