Contextualization

Agriculture is an activity that involves farming and raising animals for human use, including the production of food, raw materials, and final products. It plays a crucial role in economies around the world, providing jobs and sustenance for millions of people.

Agriculture is the foundation of the economy of many countries, including Brazil. Our nation is one of the world's largest producers of coffee, soybeans, sugarcane, cattle, chickens, and pigs. More than that, agriculture plays a key role in the Brazilian economy, being one of the main responsible for generating wealth, jobs, and exports.

Introduction

We will begin our study by exploring the different aspects of agriculture, understanding its importance, the techniques used, the main productions of our region, and how this activity impacts the soil and the environment.

In our study, we will address concepts of geography, understanding the characteristics of landscapes transformed by the development of agriculture, in addition to discussing the industrialization process associated with it. We will also explore economic issues, discussing the importance of agriculture and agribusiness for the Brazilian economy.

Practical Activity: "From Seed to Plate: A Journey Through Agriculture"

Project Objective

The project aims to stimulate students' understanding of the agricultural process, from planting/rearing to the arrival of products on our table. In addition, it aims to discuss the importance of agriculture for the economy and the impact of this sector on the environment.

Detailed Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will have the mission to carry out the following tasks:

  1. Research: Students should research types and techniques of planting and raising animals, from soil preparation/meeting the animals' needs, to the time of harvest/slaughter and preparation for consumption.

  2. Production of a Model: Based on the research, the groups should build a model that represents a farm/agricultural model. The model should include planting areas, animal raising, and food processing sites.

  3. Documentation: Students should document the entire research and construction process of the model, justifying their design choices. Then, they should use this documentation to write a comprehensive report, as discussed in the introduction of this project.

Necessary Materials

  • Research materials: books, internet access, among others.
  • Materials for the construction of the model: cardboard, paper, ink, glue, scissors, among others.

Detailed Step by Step

  1. Research: Investigate the agricultural process: types of planting and raising animals, techniques used, harvesting and slaughtering process, and preparation for consumption.

  2. Model Planning: Based on the research, plan what your farm/agricultural model will look like. Don't forget to include planting areas, animal raising, and food processing sites.

  3. Model Construction: Use the available materials to build the model, according to the planning done.

  4. Documentation: Throughout the process, document everything: the research, the planning process, and the construction of the model. Take pictures, make notes, etc.

  5. Report Writing: Based on the documentation made, write the final report. Remember, the report should have four sections: introduction, development, conclusions, and bibliography.

Project Deliverables

At the end of the project, each group must deliver:

  1. The farm/agricultural model.
  2. The final report, containing:
    • Introduction: Contextualization of the theme, relevance of agriculture, objective of the project, and the techniques and procedures that the students plan to address in the model.
    • Development: Detailed description of the research and construction process of the model, with discussion of the results associated with their model.
    • Conclusions: Recap of the main points, explaining the lessons learned and the conclusions drawn about the project.
    • Bibliography: The sources used in the project, including books, websites, videos, etc.

The written report will complement the practical learning obtained with the creation of the farm model. Through the report, students will connect theory with practice, consolidating their learning about agriculture.
