Contextualization

Agriculture is a sector of fundamental importance in Brazil and in the world. It is dedicated to the production of food and raw materials, through the cultivation of plants and the raising of animals. Some of the main products of the agricultural sector include grains (such as soybeans, corn, and rice), meats (beef, pork, and poultry), dairy products, and fibers (such as cotton).

Due to the enormous diversity of biomes and the varied climates present in the Brazilian territory, agriculture manifests itself in different ways in each region. This gives Brazil a huge competitive advantage in the export of agricultural products; in addition, the agricultural sector represents a significant portion of Brazilian GDP (Gross Domestic Product).

Agriculture is an extremely rich subject and we are only beginning to explore it. This project aims to provide you, students, with the opportunity to learn more about this sector that is so important to our economy and to society as a whole.

Some of the sources that you may use during this project include the EMBRAPA website, the National Agriculture Society, and the IBGE data on agriculture. Always remember to check the veracity and quality of the information that you find!

Practical Activity

1. Project Title: "Exploring Brazilian Agriculture"

2. Project Objective:

The main objective of this activity is to allow students to understand the dynamics and importance of agriculture in the Brazilian economy, through research and presentation of a specific agricultural product, state, or region.

3. Detailed Project Description:

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people and each group will be responsible for researching a specific topic related to Brazilian agriculture. The topic can be the analysis of the production of a specific agricultural product (soybeans, corn, coffee, etc.) or the analysis of the agriculture of a specific Brazilian state or region.

Students will become "experts" on the chosen topic, investigating in detail how agricultural production is carried out, what are the main challenges faced, and also the impact of agricultural production on the local and national economy.

At the end, each group must produce a research report as well as a presentation to share the findings with the class. The report and presentation should include:

• A detailed description of agricultural production: How is it done? What are the main characteristics?
• The main challenges faced by farmers in production.
• The contribution of agricultural production to the local and national economy.

4. Necessary Materials:

• Internet access for research
• Computer or paper for creating the report
• Presentation program (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.) for making the presentation

5. Step-by-step to Carry Out the Activity:

1. Formation of groups and choice of theme.
2. Research on the chosen topic.
3. Group meeting to discuss and organize the information collected.
4. Preparation of the report draft.
5. Review by group members and necessary adjustments to the report.
6. Creation of the presentation.
7. Preparation for the final presentation (each student must master their parts in the presentation).
8. Presentation for the class and delivery of the report.

Project Completion and Delivery:

After completing the practical activity, students must write a report, following the structure:

1. Introduction: Brief contextualization of the chosen theme and the objectives of the research developed.
2. Development: Detail the research process, the steps taken, the data collected, and the analysis and interpretation of the data.
3. Conclusions: Revisiting the objectives of the research, students should express what they learned during the project, their opinions, and the challenges encountered.
4. Bibliography: Indication of the sources consulted during the execution of the project.
