The Middle East is a region that plays a prominent role in world history due to its strategic location and natural resources. It is here that three of the world's major religions were born: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and it is in this region that the Arab peoples live. The Arabs have a rich and diverse culture that has been influenced by various peoples and civilizations throughout history.

The history of the Arabs involves the formation of the Arab peoples, their conversion to Islam, the conquest of new territories, and the invasion of the Iberian Peninsula. This project aims to provide a deeper and more detailed understanding of the Arabs, their history, culture, and contributions to the world. The study of the Arabs will help to understand cultural and human diversity, as well as the rich exchange of ideas, knowledge, and products that took place in the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean has been a space for the circulation of people, products, and cultures since antiquity. Trade and commercial routes through the Mediterranean facilitated the exchange of ideas, innovations, and knowledge among different peoples and civilizations. For example, many scientific, mathematical, and philosophical advances from antiquity were preserved and expanded by the Arabs during the Middle Ages and later transmitted to Europe through the Mediterranean.

Studying the Arabs and the Mediterranean will provide students with the opportunity to appreciate the rich tapestry of human history and the complex and interconnected ways in which different societies and cultures interact with each other.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: Exploring the Culture and History of the Arabs

Project Objective

The activity aims to provide students with a deeper and more detailed understanding of Arab culture, legacy, and history through the creation of a set of activities that promote research, teamwork, effective communication, and reflection.

Detailed Activity Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, will create an 'Arab Cultural Fair', where each group will be responsible for developing a part of the fair. This fair includes: a panel on the history of the Arabs, a presentation of an Arab cuisine dish, a model of an Arab architectural landmark, and finally, a cultural presentation that may include an Arab poem, a dance, a music piece, or an Arab tale.

Activity Steps

1. Students should research the history of the Arab peoples, highlighting the formation of the Arab peoples, the conversion to Islam, the conquest of new territories, and the invasion of the Iberian Peninsula.

2. Each group should choose a typical Arab cuisine dish to prepare. The group should research the recipe and its origin, as well as the significance of this dish to Arab culture.

3. Students should choose a significant Arab architectural landmark and build a model of it, providing a brief explanation of its historical and cultural importance.

4. The group should choose a form of Arab cultural expression to represent. This can be a poem, a dance, or a song.

5. Finally, each group should present their work to the class, explaining what they learned during the activity development.

Project Conclusion and Deliverables

At the end of the practical activity, students should prepare a written report detailing the research and implementation process of the activities. The report should include:

1. Introduction: Contextualizing the theme, its relevance, real-world application, and the objective of this project.

2. Development: Detailed explanation of the theory behind the topics covered, detailed description of the activities carried out, the methodology used, and finally, presentation and discussion of the results obtained.

3. Conclusion: Recap of the main points, explanation of the learnings obtained, and conclusions drawn about the project.

4. Bibliography: Indication of all research sources and reference materials used during the project.

Students should document all stages of the project, including photos, to illustrate the report. This practical experience will provide an opportunity to work as a team, communicate effectively, solve problems, manage time, and be creative and proactive.
