Ancient Greece was composed of several city-states, the most famous being Athens and Sparta. Each of them had particularities and different political systems, with democracy being a legacy of Athens.

Ancient Greek society was highly structured, with different social roles for men and women. Women, despite having limitations on political and social participation, had important roles in families, culture, and religion.

Greece was also the birthplace of the Olympic Games in antiquity, an event that celebrated peace and healthy competition among city-states, and was brought back to modern life in the late 19th century. Ancient Greece was also notable for its advancements in various fields of knowledge, such as philosophy, mathematics, physics, astronomy, and medicine.

The influence of Ancient Greece is evident in many aspects of modern life. The concept of democracy, originated in Athens, is the basis of many political systems worldwide. Activity Title: "Recreating Ancient Greece: A Journey through History"

Project Objective

The project's objective is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of Ancient Greece, its contributions to modern society, its political and social structure, as well as its culture. This project aims primarily at interdisciplinary, connecting knowledge from History, Art, and Social Sciences.

Detailed Project Description

This project will be a team effort with groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group will have the task of recreating aspects of Ancient Greece, based on theoretical and practical research.

The project will be divided into five parts:

• Part 1: Initial research and planning (4 hours)
• Part 2: Construction of a model of a Greek city-state (6 hours)
• Part 3: Oral presentation (2 hours)
• Part 4: Report writing (4 hours)
• Part 5: Exhibition of models and presentations (1-2 hours)

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution

Part 1: Initial Research and Planning

Students should start with extensive research on Ancient Greece. They should make a detailed plan on how they will build their city-state. Each group can choose a different city-state to research and recreate, such as Athens, Sparta, Corinth, among others.

Part 2: Model Construction

Students will build the model of the chosen city-state, representing the main points and characteristics, such as the agora (marketplace), temples, theater, etc. They should also include details, such as how social life was organized, how women's lives were, how sports events were, etc.

Part 3: Oral Presentation

Each group must prepare an oral presentation to explain their project. They should talk about the city-state they chose, why they chose it, what difficulties they encountered, interesting facts discovered, etc.

Part 4: Report Writing

Students should write a detailed report on the project. This report should include the following topics: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used. The report will be used to assess their understanding of the topic, as well as their research and writing skills.

Part 5: Exhibition of Models and Presentations

Finally, there will be an exhibition of the models and oral presentations from each group. This moment will also be an opportunity for students to appreciate each other's work and learn more about the different city-states of Ancient Greece.
