Electronic games have transcended their original purpose of entertainment to become a learning platform, a means to develop motor, cognitive, and socioemotional skills, as well as an Esport (electronic sport) with competitions involving millions of dollars. Their influence can be seen in many aspects of our society, from art and culture to social interactions and the economy.
Understanding the evolution of electronic games, the technologies involved, and the changes in how we play is essential to grasp the impact these games have had and will continue to have on our lives and society as a whole. Furthermore, it is also important to analyze this evolution in the context of Physical Education, as many games incorporate physical movement, either through motion control devices or the need for quick and precise physical coordination.

Activity Title: 'From Pong to Esports: A Journey through Electronic Games'
Project Objective
This project aims to investigate the evolution of electronic games, examining the technology, gameplay, social changes, and the physical and cognitive effects on those who play. Students will work in groups of 3 to 5 people, and the project should take more than twelve hours to be completed by each student.
Project Description
Students will investigate the history of electronic games, examining how games and technology have evolved over time. They will analyze how gameplay and graphics have changed, how games have influenced society and the economy, how games are used in education, and how physical games have affected players. Additionally, they will analyze the growth of Esports and the changes it has brought.

Project Step-by-Step

Research: Each group should start by researching the history of electronic games. This research should include an analysis of the evolution of technology, the types of games that were popular in different eras, and how electronic games have influenced society and the economy.

Analysis: Based on this research, the group should choose four different time periods to focus on and analyze in detail. For example, the early days of 'Pong' and 'Space Invaders,' the era of 'Super Mario' and 'Sonic,' the era of 'PlayStation' and 'Xbox,' and the current era of online games and Esports.

Game Experience: If possible, group members should try playing different types of games from each chosen time period. This can be done through online emulators, old consoles, or even by watching gameplay videos.

Report: Each group must prepare a detailed written report documenting their findings. This report should include an introduction to the topic, the project's objectives, details of the research and analysis conducted, discussion of the results, and conclusions.

Presentation: In addition to the written report, each group should prepare a visual presentation highlighting the main points of their research and analysis. This may include images, graphics, videos, or even real-time demonstrations of old games.
Project Deliverables
At the end of the project, each group must deliver:
- A written report detailing the research and analysis process, the findings, and the conclusions of their investigation. The report should include the following topics: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.
- A visual presentation highlighting the main points of their research and analysis.
These deliverables should demonstrate the students' understanding of the evolution of electronic games, their ability to conduct detailed research and analysis, and their skill in effectively communicating their findings and conclusions.
