Introduction

Technical-combinatorial sports encompass activities where the execution of a technique, whether it be a kick, a pass, or a specific movement, is combined with strategic decision-making. Within this category, we find a range of sports such as chess, rhythmic gymnastics, figure skating, among others, where technique and strategy are intricate factors that define the performance of the practitioners.

Technical-combinatorial sports are challenging and engaging, as they require both motor and cognitive skills. Practicing these sports leads to the comprehensive development of the practitioners, improving aspects such as motor coordination, spatial awareness, strategic planning, decision-making, and resilience, among others.

In a school environment, these sports can be excellent tools for the physical and cognitive development of students. Additionally, by collaborating in groups to understand and practice these concepts, students foster cooperation, communication, and leadership skills, which are essential for their development as active and involved individuals.

Technical-combinatorial sports play a significant role in society and contemporary culture. They are a form of art and entertainment, a means of exercise and health, a way to compete and learn. Technical and combinatorial sports are present in our lives, both as spectators and as participants.

In this project, we will delve into these sports, understand their principles and rules, and experience practicing some of them. We will also apply concepts from other disciplines, such as mathematics and physics, to gain a better understanding of how these sports work. Our goal is to explore the depth and diversity of technical and combinatorial sports and to comprehend how they can contribute to our development and enjoyment.

Activity Title:

Chess and Rhythmic Gymnastics - Understanding and Experiencing Technical-Combinatorial Sports

Project Goal:

To deepen students' knowledge of chess and rhythmic gymnastics as examples of technical-combinatorial sports, to provide the opportunity to experience these sports, and to develop a final report that describes their experiences and learning.

Detailed Project Description:

The project will be conducted in groups of 3 to 5 students and will last approximately 3 weeks. The activities include theoretical study, practicing the selected sports, and completing a final report.

Required Materials:

  • Chessboards and pieces for each group
  • Rhythmic gymnastics equipment such as ribbons, balls, hoops, clubs, and ropes
  • Notebooks and pens for note-taking
  • Camera or smartphone for video recording
  • Research materials such as books, articles, videos, etc.

Detailed Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Initial Research on Chess and Rhythmic Gymnastics: Students must research and understand the basic rules, history, characteristics, and technical and strategic aspects of chess and rhythmic gymnastics. Students will record their findings in a notebook.

  2. Chess Practice: Students will have the opportunity to play chess against each other to familiarize themselves with the pieces, moves, and basic strategies. For each game, students should take notes on their moves, strategies used, and the game results.

  3. Rhythmic Gymnastics Practice: Students will take part in rhythmic gymnastics classes, focusing on performing basic movements and creating choreographic sequences. All classes and exercises should be recorded on video.

  4. Integration of Disciplines: During the practical activities, students should observe and record the connections between the sports being studied and the content of other disciplines, such as Physics and Mathematics. For example, the laws of motion as applied to rhythmic gymnastics, strategies, and probabilities in chess, among others.

  5. Preparation of the Report: Based on the notes and recordings made throughout the project, each group should prepare a final report that includes the following sections: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography.

Project Deliverables:

The final product of this project is a report that documents the students' learning throughout the project. The report should be divided into the following sections:

  1. Introduction: Students should provide context for technical-combinatorial sports, the sports chosen for study, as well as the relevance of these topics and the project's objectives.

  2. Development: In this section, students should describe in detail the rules and characteristics of chess and rhythmic gymnastics, their practical experience with these sports, their integration with other disciplines, and the strategies they employed. They should also discuss the results obtained.

  3. Conclusions: Students should reflect on the learning outcomes, such as how these practices contributed to the development of specific skills, the difficulties encountered and overcome, and the impact of this knowledge on their lives.

  4. Bibliography: Students should list all the sources utilized in their research - books, websites, videos, etc.
