In this project, we will explore, in a deep and contextualized way, the role of personal pronouns and numerals in the construction of meaning in a text.

Personal pronouns are words that replace names and are used to refer to the three persons in discourse - the person speaking, the person being spoken to, or the person being spoken about. They are essential in the Portuguese language to indicate who is performing or receiving an action. As for numerals, they bring quantitative or ordinal information, being essential for the logical and cohesive construction of a text.

Importance and practical application

In our daily lives, we use personal pronouns and numerals intuitively, in our oral or written communication. However, for an effective use of the language, it is necessary to understand how these classes of words function in the construction of meaning in texts.

From this perspective, mastering the use of personal pronouns and numerals becomes an indispensable resource in various real-life situations, such as writing a letter, preparing a report, conducting a job interview, or even arguing opinions and points of view in a coherent and cohesive manner.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: Getting to know numbers and people: a journey through the use of numerals and personal pronouns in texts

Project Objective:

The objective of this activity will be to create, analyze, and revise texts in order to effectively understand and apply the use of personal pronouns and numerals. Throughout this task, students should identify, justify the use, and correct these linguistic elements in texts, as well as create their own text.

Detailed Project Description:

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group must choose a textual genre (letters, opinion articles, stories, reports, etc.). Each selected genre must be approved by the teacher to ensure a wide variety of genres throughout the class.

The project will be divided into 4 main parts:

1. Study and research: Students must study personal pronouns and numerals and research their use in the chosen textual genre.

2. Text analysis: Each group must look for texts in books, magazines, or online that exemplify the genre they have chosen. They must identify and highlight the use of personal pronouns and numerals in these texts. Additionally, they must analyze the role of these elements in creating meaning in the texts.

3. Text creation: After the analysis, each group will have to write their own text using the chosen textual genre and correctly applying numerals and personal pronouns.

4. Revision and correction: Finally, each group will review and correct the texts of the other groups, focusing on the use of personal pronouns and numerals.

Project Deliverables:

Groups must submit a written report on the project. The report should include the following topics:

1. Introduction: Contextualize the theme, explain its relevance and practical application in the real world, and the project's objective.

2. Development: Detail the study and research conducted, explain the analysis of the texts and the creation of the own text, and indicate the methodology used. Present and discuss the results obtained.

3. Conclusion: Conclude the work by summarizing its main points, explaining the learnings obtained, and the conclusions drawn from the project.

4. Bibliography: Indicate the sources used to work on the project such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

In addition, each group must present the text created by them during the project.
