Contextualization

Through the studies of the Portuguese language, we learn to enhance and amplify our communication, whether written or oral. Our focus in this project will be to deepen the understanding of articles and adjectives, essential linguistic elements in the construction of meaning in texts.

Articles are words that accompany nouns, determining them in terms of definition and indefiniteness, as well as gender and number. They are present in virtually all sentences we construct and, although small, they are of enormous relevance for the fluency and clarity of communication. Adjectives, on the other hand, are responsible for qualifying nouns. For example, in the sentence "The black dog ran down the empty street," "black" and "empty" are adjectives that give us more information about the dog and the street, respectively.

Importance

The construction of meaning in a text heavily depends on these two elements. The proper use of articles helps to determine and specify nouns, while adjectives assist in creating more complete mental images, adding details and characteristics to nouns. By mastering the use of articles and adjectives, we can express ourselves more precisely and richly, and better understand what is being communicated to us.

In the real world, this knowledge is essential for the correct interpretation of texts, whether in a school test, a newspaper, a book, or a conversation on social media. Furthermore, knowing how to use these linguistic elements well can make a big difference when writing a text, a resume, or a formal email, for example.

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to apply the acquired knowledge about articles and adjectives in the creation of a comic book story. The story should be structured in a way that the use of these linguistic elements is evident and crucial for the understanding of the plot.

Detailed Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, must create a comic book story of 10 to 15 pages. The story can be about any theme, but it requires the strategic use of articles and adjectives to build the meaning of the plot and characterize characters, places, and situations.

Students will have to develop a script before drawing the comics. This script must be written, reviewed, and corrected by the group to ensure that the story makes sense and highlights the use of the studied linguistic elements.

The project delivery consists of the following elements:
