Context
The Periodic Table is an essential tool for understanding Chemistry. It is a map for organizing the chemical elements known to date, which are arranged based on their properties. The theme of this project will focus on metals, one of the main groups of elements present in the Periodic Table.
Metals are found in a large part of the Periodic Table, occupying the s-block (alkali metals and alkaline earth metals), the d-block (transition metals), and part of the p-block (representative metals). They are characterized by being good conductors of heat and electricity and having a characteristic luster (when polished), among other properties. Some families of metals have specific properties, such as the alkali metals that are extremely reactive.
The importance of metals is immeasurable. They are present in various applications that are part of our daily lives. From the structure of our homes to the electronic devices we use, metals are everywhere. Furthermore, each metal has specific applications due to its specific properties. For example, aluminum is used in soda cans because it is lightweight and corrosion-resistant, while copper is widely used in electrical wires because it is an excellent conductor of electricity.
