Objective
The proposed activity will help to better understand the nomenclature of acids, through a group guessing game, where each team will receive a series of vials containing acidic solutions and must, using their naming skills, discover the name and formula of the acid present in each vial.
Detailed Project Description
Groups of students (3 to 5 students) will be responsible for identifying different acids based on their characteristics, using acid nomenclature in Chemistry. The activity consists of using acid nomenclature to solve a puzzle of which acids are in unidentified vials.
Required Materials
- Transparent vials with different acids (hydrides and oxyacids).
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): lab coat, safety goggles, and gloves.
- Paper and pen for notes.
- Reference material on acid nomenclature.
Step by Step

Each group will receive vials containing different acids. These vials will be labeled only with a number. The names and formulas of the acids will not be available, and it will be the students' task to discover what these acids are.
