Context

In the mid-20th century, after World War II, the world witnessed the formation of a new geopolitical scenario - the bipolarized world. This term refers to the period known as the Cold War, where two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, established themselves as world leaders, each proposing a different economic and political system.

This project aims to deepen the understanding of this bipolarization. Students will be encouraged to explore and analyze various sources to better understand the formation, the main events, and the consequences of this historical phase.

Importance

Studying the bipolarization of the world is essential to understand current international relations, as the division directly influenced the politics, economy, and culture of several countries. Even with the end of the Cold War, many of its legacies are still evident, such as the existence of nuclear weapons and the ideological division that still causes conflicts.

Furthermore, studying the bipolar world allows for a broad view of the concepts of capitalism and socialism, which are still very present in current debates. Understanding these ideologies is essential to analyze issues such as the global economy, workers' rights, social inequality, among others.

Project Objective:

The objective of this project is to provide students with a more practical and comprehensive view of the bipolar world. Through research, data analysis, and mapping, students will have a better understanding of the complex international relations and ideological divisions during the Cold War and how they shaped the current geopolitical scenario.

Detailed Project Description:

Each group of 3 to 5 students will be responsible for researching and mapping the countries that were under the influence of the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War period. They should identify the main events that occurred in each country, such as civil wars, revolutions, and coups d'état, and how these events were influenced by global bipolarity. In this project, students should use their research, analysis, and cooperation skills.

Required Materials:

1. Internet access for research
2. Materials for making a physical map (sulfite paper, colored pens, etc.)
3. Presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.)
4. Books and educational resources on the Cold War and the bipolar world.

Detailed Step-by-Step:

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Each group should research the countries under the influence of the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cold War.
3. Next, students should identify and research the main events that occurred in each country during that time.
4. Each group should then create a physical map representing global bipolarization during the Cold War, highlighting the countries and events researched.
5. Finally, each group should prepare a presentation explaining their map and discussing the influence of global bipolarization on the researched events.

Project Delivery:
