Practical Activity
Activity Title: World Climate Modeling
Project Objective:
Build an interactive model of world climate patterns using different materials. This model will help visualize how the climate changes in different parts of the world and how it influences life in those regions.
Detailed Project Description:
Student groups will be assigned to research a specific type of climate (for example, tropical climate, desert climate, polar climate, etc.). They should collect data on characteristics of this climate, such as precipitation patterns, temperatures, effects on local fauna and flora, etc.
Additionally, they should also research how climate change is affecting, or may affect, this type of climate. Once the research is done, students will build a model that visually represents this climate, with all its characteristics, and show the possible effects of climate change.
Required Materials:
- Large cardboard for the model base
- Acrylic paint in various colors
- Diverse art materials (colored paper, crepe paper, cotton, sand, etc.)
- Paper cards for notes
- Computer with internet access for research
- Camera or smartphone to document the process and results
Step by Step:

Research: Research the assigned climate type, collect the necessary information, and organize it. Also, research how climate change is affecting, or may affect, this climate.

Model Planning: Based on the research done, plan how you will visually represent the climate and its effects. Draw a sketch of the model before starting to build it.
