Doping in sports is a practice as old as sports itself. The pursuit of victory, the best time, the record, often leads athletes and their coaches to exceed limits. These limits, however, are not only physical, but also ethical and legal. Doping involves the use of substances and methods prohibited by sports entities, which artificially enhance sports performance and can pose serious health risks to athletes.

Combatting doping is a priority for sports entities worldwide, not only for the sake of sports justice but also for the athletes' health. The use of prohibited substances can lead to irreversible health damage, and even death. Doping also compromises the integrity of sports, creating unfair competition among athletes.

Knowledge about doping, its practices, the substances used, and their effects is essential for the formation of a conscious athlete who values their health and the integrity of sports. In this sense, the project we propose here aims to deepen students' knowledge about doping, addressing the topic in a playful and collaborative manner.

Practical Activity: 'The Impact of Doping on the Integrity of Sports'

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to conduct a detailed research on real cases of doping in sports, analyze the effects of these substances on athletes' performance, and the impacts on health and sports integrity.

Detailed Project Description

Groups should choose at least two real cases of doping that occurred in sports competitions. The analysis of these cases should involve:

1. Description of the athletes and the sport practiced.
2. The substance used and its effects.
3. The impact on the athlete's performance.
4. Consequences for the athlete's health.
5. The effect on the competition and sports integrity.

Each group should prepare a PowerPoint presentation and a report in article format, with analyses and conclusions.

Required Materials

1. Computer with internet access for research.
2. Presentation creation program (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.).
3. Text writing program (Word, Google Docs, etc.).

Detailed Step-by-Step

Here is a guide to assist the groups' work:

1. Choose the doping cases for analysis.
2. Research on the athletes, the substance used, the effects on performance and health, and the impact on the competition and sports.
3. Develop a scheme with the main points to be addressed in the presentation and report.
4. Write the report, emphasizing clarity, argumentation, and grounding in the researched data.
5. Prepare the presentation with clear, concise, and informative slides.
6. Present the work to the class and discuss the results.

Project Deliverables

Students must deliver:

1. The PowerPoint presentation on the analyzed doping cases.
2. The report in article format, with analyses and conclusions.

The Introduction, Development, and Conclusion sections of the report should correspond, respectively, to the contextualization of the theme (what is doping, why it is important to study this theme), the description of the analyzed doping cases, and the discussion of the impacts of doping on the athlete's health and sports integrity.

In the Bibliography section, students must cite all sources of information used for the project, according to ABNT standards.
