Contextualization

The study of the Spanish language involves the understanding of various key concepts for comprehension and fluency in this wonderful and enriching language. One of these concepts is the proper use of the verbs ser, estar, and tener (to be, to be, to have), which are fundamental auxiliary verbs and highly used in constructing sentences in Spanish. Understanding their differences in usage and meaning is essential for good communication in this language.

Ser, estar, and tener are verbs used to express different aspects of existence, state, or possession. For example, the verb 'ser' is used to indicate identity, origin, profession, nationality, date, time, among others. On the other hand, the verb 'estar' is used to express physical or emotional states, locations, ongoing actions, and results. And the verb 'tener' is used to express possession or belonging. Although they may seem simple, these verbs can be complicated for students, as their applications can vary greatly.

The verbs ser, estar, and tener are of utmost importance for effective communication in Spanish and have great relevance in the grammar of this language. It is for this reason that we must delve into their study, understanding their nuances and practical applications.

Language is more than just a collection of words and grammatical rules. It is a means of expressing culture, feelings, and perspectives. This understanding becomes especially relevant when studying another language, such as Spanish. In this sense, studying the verbs ser, estar, and tener allows us not only to expand our linguistic ability but also to gain a deeper insight into Hispanic culture.

Activity Title: 'Exploring the Use of the Verbs 'Ser', 'Estar', and 'Tener' in Scene'

Project Objective:

To develop the understanding of the verbs 'ser', 'estar', and 'tener' in the Spanish language through a playful and interactive activity, resulting in the creation of a theatrical play script, followed by its presentation. Additionally, at the end, students should write a detailed report about the project.

In addition to improving comprehension and usage skills of the verbs under study, this activity also aims to develop socio-emotional skills such as teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and creative thinking.

Detailed Project Description:

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. After the groups are formed, each of them will have the task of creating a theatrical play whose script should cover situations that require extensive use of the verbs 'ser', 'estar', and 'tener'. Each verb should be used in at least four different contexts.

Students should research and study the verbs in question, including their usage in different verb tenses and contexts, and apply this knowledge in creating their scripts. The script creation will require the integration of the Portuguese Language discipline, developing the narrative and literary skills of the students.

The script should be accompanied by a storyboard, that is, a series of illustrations or images arranged in sequence with the aim of visualizing the scenes and the flow of the play. This will require the integration of the Arts discipline, thus promoting the development of visual and creative skills.

After completing the script and storyboard, students will perform the play, which should have a minimum duration of 15 minutes. They can use characterization resources, scenery, and props of their choice. The play presentation should be recorded on video.

  • Research material (books, internet access)
  • Script material (paper, pencils/pens)
  • Storyboard materials (paper, colored pens, colored pencils)
  • Video recording resources (cell phone, camera)
