One of the reflections of this is "hypertext", a concept that goes far beyond the linear text we are used to reading and writing. In hypertext, you do not read linearly but non-linearly, that is, through links that connect different parts of the text or even different texts.
The term "hypertext" was coined by the American computer scientist Ted Nelson in the 1960s. The concept consists of a form of text that is not linear, where a reader can choose paths, connections, and links to determine their reading. This form of text is widely used in digital media, where the reading structure allows jumping from one topic to another according to the reader's interest, creating a kind of knowledge network.
Importance of Hypertext
Hypertext is an important tool for building knowledge in the digital age. Considering that we live in an information society, where we are constantly surrounded by various contents, hypertext allows us to organize this information in a more dynamic way, giving the reader the possibility to choose what to read, when, and how.
In the academic world, for example, the hypertext format allows researchers to quickly and easily access references to studies and publications connected to the text they are reading, streamlining the research process and expanding the understanding of the topic studied. In addition, hypertext is also a tool that contributes to the democratization of knowledge, as it enables everyone to access a vast amount of information.
Practical Activity: "Exploring the World of Hypertext"
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to develop a deep understanding of the concept of hypertext and its applications, as well as to enable students to improve teamwork, critical analysis, writing, and time management skills.
Detailed Project Description
Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will be responsible for creating a "Hypertext Map", which will consist of a text interconnected with various links, addressing a topic of their choice, as long as it is relevant to the 1st year High School curriculum. The map must include, at a minimum, three main texts interconnected by links, forming a non-linear structure.
In addition to creating the Hypertext Map, students will have to write a detailed report describing the entire creation process, the challenges and solutions found, as well as the conclusions drawn from the project.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Carrying Out the Activity
- Each group must choose a topic for their Hypertext Map.
- A brainstorming session should be held to define the main points that will be addressed in the texts and how they will be interconnected.
- Next, the group should conduct research to deepen their knowledge about the chosen topic and the content that will be included in the texts.
- After gathering the information, each group member should write a text and define links that connect this text to those of the other group members, forming the Hypertext Map.
- Finally, the group should prepare a detailed report on the creation process, presenting the methodology used, the challenges encountered, the proposed solutions, the results obtained, and the conclusions drawn.
Project Deliverables and its Connection to the Activity
Students must deliver the Hypertext Map and the report. The Hypertext Map must consist of, at a minimum, three main texts interconnected by links, and must demonstrate the students' understanding of the concept of hypertext and its applicability.
The report must be written in a clear and objective manner, with a formal and academic language. The report should be divided into four main parts: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography. In the Introduction, the group should briefly explain the chosen topic and the relevance of the study; in the Development, the group should detail the methodology used, the description of the activity carried out, and the results obtained; in the Conclusions, the group should summarize the main points of the project and the learnings obtained; and finally, in the Bibliography, the group should list all sources of information used during the research.
