This project will focus on the topic 'Information about the text.' The text is a construction that uses language to convey a message. It can be verbal (uses words) or non-verbal (uses images, gestures). Understanding the information inserted in the text is a fundamental step to comprehend its meaning and intention.

By acquiring the ability to extract information from a text, we are able to discern main and secondary points, and even find hidden information that the author wanted to convey. This allows us not only to better understand the text but also to develop our critical and analytical skills.

Thus, the project proposes an activity in which it will be necessary for all group members to contribute together in order to identify and understand the information contained in a text. The work will be divided into two main parts: textual analysis and textual production. At the end of the project, it is expected that, in addition to the theoretical and practical understanding of the concepts addressed, students will develop teamwork, time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Importance of Information in Text

The ability to read and interpret texts is one of the most important skills we acquire throughout our lives. It allows us to understand instructions, learn new concepts, think critically, among many other things. Being able to extract information from a text and understand its meaning is what makes us efficient readers.

In this digitized and dynamic world, we are bombarded with a large amount of texts every day. Knowing how to navigate and understand these texts is an essential skill to be literate in the 21st century. Furthermore, reading comprehension is vital for active and informed citizenship.

Unveiling the Text: A Journey of Discovery and Creation

Activity Objective

The objective of this activity is to provide students with a practical understanding of how to extract and analyze information contained in a text, as well as to enhance their skills in text production.

Activity Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people and will have to select a journalistic text of their choice. The text should be challenging but not overly complex. From this text, they must extract the necessary information to understand it and then produce a new text, which should be a direct and concise summary of the original.

Necessary Materials

• A journalistic text of their own choice;
• Computer with internet access for research;
• Writing materials (pencils, pens, papers, etc.);
• Time for group discussion and preparation.

Step by Step

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 people.
2. Each group must choose a journalistic text for analysis. The text can be from a magazine, newspaper, or reliable website.
3. Read the text carefully and discuss its main ideas.
4. Divide the text into parts (introduction, development, conclusion) and identify the most important information.
5. Write a concise summary of the original text, maintaining its main ideas.
6. Review the produced text, making necessary corrections and adjustments.
7. Present the original text and the summary produced in class, explaining the process of textual comprehension and production.

Project Deliverables

At the end of the project, each group will be responsible for delivering:

1. The chosen original text.

2. The summary produced by the group, which must be delivered in print and digitally.

3. A detailed report, in the format mentioned above. This report should contain:

   • Introduction: explanation of the chosen text, its relevance, and the motivation behind the choice.
   • Development: describe the process of analysis and interpretation of the original text, the methodology adopted by the group, the process of producing the summarized text, the challenges encountered, and how they were overcome.
   • Conclusions: recap of the main points, lessons learned, and reflections on the activity.
   • Bibliography: indicate the sources used for research and support in carrying out the activity.

The final report must be delivered in print and digitally within a week after the completion of the activity. This is a crucial element as it allows students to reflect on their learning process and document the skills acquired during the project.
