Contextualization
Textual resources are essential for building cohesive and coherent texts. They involve all the tools and elements we use to structure our ideas effectively and logically, making our message clear and easy to understand for the other person.
The elements that make up such resources range from the appropriate choice of words, the use of figures of speech, and the structuring of sentences and paragraphs to the logical connection between the ideas expressed and the correct use of verb tenses. Knowing and mastering the use of these resources is fundamental not only for writing but also for reading, since it is through them that we can correctly interpret the message conveyed by a text.
In addition, these resources are powerful tools of persuasion. With them, we are able to convince, influence, provoke emotions and reactions, and generate reflection. In literature, advertising, journalism, political speeches, and in all forms of communication, textual resources are essential instruments for formulating messages that attract, engage, and move people.
In today's world, where information is transmitted increasingly quickly and in large quantities, knowing how to decode and encode messages efficiently is a skill of great value. Textual resources are a fundamental part of this process. They are also key elements in building solid arguments and forming a critical opinion, skills that are essential in a democratic society.
Therefore, this project aims to deepen the knowledge about these resources, exploring different techniques and strategies of textual production. In addition, we seek to develop the ability to work in groups and stimulate the critical thinking and creativity of students.
We recommend the use of the following resources for further study of the topic:
- Book "How to Write a Thesis", by Umberto Eco
- "Manual of Writing of the Presidency of the Republic"
- "ABNT Standards" website for guidance on formatting and structuring an academic paper
- "Dictionary of Linguistic Terms", by Francisco da Silva Borba and others, for consultation on specific language terms.
Practical Activity: Text Creation Workshop
Project Objective
The "Text Creation Workshop" project aims to allow students to explore and learn the various textual resources and apply them in the construction of an original, clear, cohesive, and persuasive text.
Detailed Project Description
Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, and each group will be tasked with creating a small advertising campaign for a fictitious product or service, which must include:
- Creating a name and slogan for the product/service.
- Creating an advertising text for a print advertisement.
- Preparing a sales pitch for the product/service.
This advertising campaign must be presented in a creative way using the textual resources learned. To do this, students will need to study the concepts of figures of speech, choice of appropriate words, structuring of sentences and paragraphs, and logical connection between ideas.
Materials Required
The materials needed for this project are paper and pen for notes and drafts, a computer with internet access for research and the preparation of the final report.
Detailed Step-by-Step Instructions for Completing the Activity
Step 1: Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
Step 2: Study the concepts and techniques of textual resources, using the materials indicated in the contextualization and other research sources.
Step 3: Group discussion to choose the fictitious product/service and define its target audience.
Step 4: Creation of the name and slogan for the product/service. Here, students should consider the impact of words and figures of speech in the rapid and effective communication of the product's proposal.
Step 5: Preparation of the advertising copy, taking into account the logical and coherent structuring of ideas, the choice of words that arouse the interest of the target audience, and the appropriate use of figures of speech to make the message more persuasive and memorable.
Step 6: Creation of the sales pitch, seeking a more personal and direct approach to convince the potential customer of the utility or advantage of the product/service.
Step 7: Review of the texts created and final adjustments.
Step 8: Preparation of the final report, which should contain:
- Introduction: Present the chosen product/service, the target audience, and the justification for the choice of textual resources used.
- Development: Detail the process of creating the texts (name, slogan, advertising copy, and sales pitch), explaining the strategies and techniques used and their relationship to the concepts studied. Include the discussion about teamwork and the division of tasks.
- Conclusions: Reflect on the results obtained, the difficulties encountered, what was learned from the experience, and how these learnings can be applied in other situations.
- Bibliography: List all research sources used.
Step 9: Presentation of the project to the class and discussion of the work.
Step 10: Submission of the final report to the teacher.
Project Deliverables
At the end of the project, the groups must submit the created advertising campaign (name, slogan, advertising copy, and sales pitch) and the final report, both in digital format.
The report must follow the structure indicated in step 8 and demonstrate the students' understanding of textual resources and their practical application in the construction of the message. The report should be written in a clear and objective manner, with correct use of the Portuguese language, and demonstrate the collaborative work of the group in carrying out the project.
