Practical Activity

Activity Title: "Time Travel: Past, Present, and Future"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to deepen students' knowledge of the simple conditional in the Spanish language, through the creation of a novel in which characters use these verb tenses to communicate. In addition, students should prepare a detailed report explaining the theory of the simple conditional and how they applied this concept in practice when creating their novel.

Detailed Project Description

Students should form teams of 3 to 5 members and work together to create a Spanish novel that uses the simple conditional, incorporating at least four key theoretical concepts about this verb form. The novel should be based on everyday situations and also contain fantastic elements, allowing students to use the conditional in various contexts and demonstrate its versatility and application. The "novel" should last between 30 to 40 minutes.

Required Materials

  • Paper and pen for drafting.
  • A computer with an Internet connection for research and typing the report.
  • A camera or smartphone to record the novel.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Completion

  1. Study the theory of the simple conditional in Spanish and discuss with your group members.
  2. Begin brainstorming ideas for your novel's story. Make sure the story allows for frequent use of the simple conditional.
  3. Write a script for the novel, highlighting where the simple conditional will be used.
  4. Rehearse and record the novel.
  5. Watch the novel and ensure that the simple conditional was used correctly.
  6. After completing the novel, start composing the report. The report should include:
    • Introduction: Describe what the simple conditional is, its importance, and how it is used in the Spanish language.
    • Development: Explain how you implemented the theory in your project. Describe your novel, the methodology used, the challenges encountered, and how they were overcome.
    • Conclusions: Discuss what your team learned throughout the project. What did the project teach you about the simple conditional and the skills needed to work in a team?
    • Bibliography: List all sources used for your project.
  7. Review your report to ensure all necessary information is included and that grammar and spelling are correct.

Project Deliverables

At the end of the project, groups should deliver:

  1. The novel in video format (30 to 40 minutes) where the use of the simple conditional is clearly evident.
  2. A written report on the project. The report should address the theory of the simple conditional and how it was applied in creating the novel, and should contain four sections: introduction, development, conclusions, and bibliography.

The process of recording the novel and preparing the report should lead students to spend more than twelve hours working on the project. This activity will not only help understand Spanish grammar but also develop important skills such as teamwork, time management, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
